Resembling a grain of wheat in vast celestial fields, the ancient city nurtures generations. Its slender form sways amidst ever-changing surroundings, remaining resolute and unwavering.
OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: Situated underground, the project transforms a dark and damp space into captivating features through innovative spatial design. Incorporating interactive light installations, immersive projections, glass reflections, and multimedia presentations, the environment becomes a multimedia interpretation of the cosmic ecosystem, carrying the essence of "light."
In the multifunctional hall, 42 sets of fiber optic lights simulate starlight, providing a unique visual and sensory experience. With 58 programmable lighting modes, the space adapts to banquets, conferences, product launches, and salon forums.
The light and shadow restaurant immerses viewers in an interactive dining experience with projections, surrounded by transparent and reflective glass brick walls that create a soft ambient light. Even the structural columns become part of the immersive experience through multimedia integration.

RESEARCH ABSTRACT: The site is located in Xingtai's old town area, specifically at the first granary on Shoujing South Road.
During the project's inception, on-site research and interviews were conducted with local residents to understand their memories and perceptions of "Shoujing South Road" and the "First Granary." The area holds significant meaning for the residents, who shared stories about its origins, the astronomical contributions during the late Southern Song Dynasty, and their emotional connection to the granary's history. The granary's reconstruction presented a design challenge to envision its new identity as a site of historical and cultural significance.
Using the SWOT model, a comprehensive analysis and positioning of the project were conducted. Design strategies were formulated to address the space's strengths and weaknesses and create an engaging commercial complex attracting a substantial number of visitors.
CHALLENGE: The space poses challenges due to its original low-frequency, dark, and damp condition. The problem of "light" in this space is addressed through new media art and light installations, reshaping the "light and shadow" and creating varied atmospheric experiences. A courtyard is introduced, incorporating natural light to meet the space's lighting needs.
To tackle dampness, a fresh air dehumidification system is installed for proper ventilation and maintaining a comfortable and healthy air quality in the underground area.
Regarding material selection, safety and sustainability are prioritized. Aluminum panels, glass, and terrazzo are chosen as primary materials, all being A1-grade non-combustible and renewable. The use of renewable and fire-resistant materials is a crucial aspect of the project, ensuring visual appeal and long-term sustainability.
