| DESIGN NAME: Explorer PRIMARY FUNCTION: Multifunctional Study Desk INSPIRATION: The bookshelf is equipped with motion sensor light, and the lighting area could be adjusted by rotation. It brings more sensory experience and comfort to users. The design of the table leg structure is unique. Compared with the conventional study table, it is stable without the rear beam between legs. Therefore, the product uses less material, and at the same time, the child can stretch the legs comfortably. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The study desk is equipped with 52-79cm height adjustment, which can be changed according to the height of the child. The desktop can be freely adjusted at an angle between 0-50°. The ruler specially designed for the inclined desktop can be magnetically attached to the upper and lower parts of the desktop to assist users in painting, reading, writing and other activities. The unique desktop area division helps children develop good sitting habits, improves comfort and learning efficiency. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: The height can be adjusted to suit users of different heights. The desktop can be adjusted at different angles to let users choose the most comfortable seating position for activities like writing, reading or drawing. There are two drawers underneath the desktop, the front one for books and stationaries, the back one for integrated chargehub. It helps users to keep desktops tidy, while facilitating the use of electronic devices and improving work and study efficiency. PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project started in July 2021 in Hang Zhou and finished in July 2022 in Hang Zhou. |
PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: Nowadays, it is common to study and work from home. As an ergonomic desk suitable for different groups of people, the Explorer provides an efficient solution for users. The triangular design of its legs and bookshelves reduces the use of materials while ensuring aesthetics and structural stability, contributing to environmental protection. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: 1200mm×700mm×970mm TAGS: Desk, Child, Grow, Study, Ergonomic,Storage, Lighting RESEARCH ABSTRACT: The exploration of the home study desk took 1.5 years from project initiation to design delivery. We conducted market research in 12 cities and visited 100 households to record user experiences. We iteratively designed the product multiple times during the process. Additionally, we searched for suitable materials, processes, equipment, and factories with high cost-effectiveness from various original material sources, investing over 3 million yuan. Finally, we successfully completed this product. CHALLENGE: The unique desktop division prevents pens, books and other items from falling to the ground when the desktop is tilted. The front board provides space for the user's arms, helping to keep healthy sitting posture, improving the comfort of use and the efficiency of learning and working.
