| DESIGN NAME: Espressionismo Floreale PRIMARY FUNCTION: Rugs INSPIRATION: Laura believes in the emotional power of color that unlocks a vibrant living and how color can bring energy to impact how we feel in the spaces around us. But moreover, how we connect with design because of its story and message. Espressionismo Floreale reminds us that nature continues offering its beauty and support, honoring how flowers make our existence possible. An abstraction of something the audience care and can relate to, and even more, that it can bring them an uplifting energy. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Espressionismo Floreale is a rug collection about the rebirth of life through flowers. Using colors and geometric shapes, each artwork captures one natural reproductive part of a flower in its most abstract form. The design of each rug is a study of color and form that generates a sensation of a sinuous, elegant and forceful movement as these flowers own by nature. A powerful color expression elevates the viewer's imagination to a world in which color floods everything and brings them joy. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: The rugs are an addition to any interior space. Once the package is opened we let the rug relax and be flat for a few hours with no furniture on top. It's recommended to vacuum it everyday for a couple of weeks if possible. After this is all about enjoying the comfort and pleasant energy from its design and colors. PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project started in November 2020 and finished in January 2023, and was exhibited at Alcova during Salone del Mobile Milan Design Week 2023. PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: The Espressionismo Floreale rugs are woven from a luxurious blend of New Zealand wool and vegan silk using the hand tufting technique. The artist’s manufacturer Beiriz Atelier in Portugal is certified in materials and production. The rugs are handmade using natural and sustainable materials, wool and vegan silk, which its production process uses environmentally friendly nontoxic solutions and recycles ninety nine per cent of the water used. The rugs are woven with natural dyes. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: They come to life through six different designs: Anther, Carpel, Filament, Leaf, Petal and Stamen. They start at a medium size and they are made to order. The overall sizes are between 2.20 x 2.40m and 2 x 3m. and the hair hight is 14 mm. TAGS: rugs, textile, furniture, color, geometry, abstract, decoration, home RESEARCH ABSTRACT: Color and form study followed by materials research. Production and manufacturing research. Shipping, packaging, delivery methodology. Once the product was achieved the creation of a business from zero with branding, website, photoshoots, PR materials, sustainable production process and research on fairs to exhibit. CHALLENGE: The first challenge was how to translate a design from 2D on paper to 3D on fabric. To then facing the biggest challenge which was the production. Worked with many makers in Barcelona, Portugal and India until found the one who could achieve the perfect lines and design and the exact desired colors in the most environmental responsible manner from the study at Tapetes Beiriz in Portugal. NAME: Niubo PROFILE: Artist-designer Laura Niubó creates an evolving selection of artworks and design collections. Born in Spain and currently living in Los Angeles, she operates as a creative director, designer and commissioned artist. Laura celebrates all the nuances derived from color. Through thoughtful and colorful expressions for our lives and our environments, Niubó prompts play, exploration, and expansion through tone, light, and perception. Her art has been exhibited in galleries in New York, London, Colombia, Barcelona, Mallorca, Los Angeles and Miami. She is done commissioned artwork for brands like Google and Figma. One of her artworks, Space Sun got selected to be up on a billboard in the city of Los Angeles for a month as one of the winners of The Billboard Creative group show. Laura is represented as an artist by Gallery RED in Spain. As a creative director, her projects range from film, photography, brand identities, experiential design, and global campaigns for some of the world’s most transformational brands - Apple, Google, Instagram, Louis Vuitton, Airbnb, Netflix - influential agencies - TBWA/Media Arts Lab, 3AM (Ridley Scott), Sid Lee, 72andSunny and Ogilvy Paris - music artists like Zedd, Vlossom and Childish Gambino. |
