DESIGN NAME: C Future
PRIMARY FUNCTION: Office
INSPIRATION: Since the global pandemic started, it has hugely influenced the way people work. Many people have discovered new ways to work, by using the latest communication technologies, it is no longer required to travel to the office.
In this current situation, the QUAD Studio design team has questioned the conventional way of designing an office space. Why people come to the office to work? The design team has to rethink the conventional way of organizing the office space.
UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The design is aimed to inspire people to work differently, the spatial design encourages people to be more social and collaborative, reinventing the office as a social gathering space.
By incorporating the needs such as exhibition, interaction, conferences, gym and relaxation, the spatial planning combines the functions of work, rest, eat, drink, talk, sports altogether. Instead of a very static environment, these spaces can be mixed or divided according to different needs.
OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: The entrance reception & exhibition area alone have incorporated technologies such as 3D printing furniture and a 360 degrees LED display strip, which can accommodate different events such as exhibitions, cocktail party, art installation or a seminar space. Different companies or organisation can rent the space for hosting company events for example, the contents of the background LED walls in the reception area can be changed according to their needs, different themes or mood can be changed instantly, to suit different companies requirement.

PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: The notion of the design is to design a multifunctional working environment which will adapt to the future needs of office space in general, in reaction to the changes after the global pandemics, which has hugely transformed the way people work in general. QUAD Studio design team design questioned the way of how conventional office environment is planned. Instead of providing an efficient 'work house', it incorporated 4 themes such as collaboration, exhibition, communication, and relaxation. The idea is to encourage people to come to the Office to meet, to showcase their products and ideas, to interact with people, to relax with gym and library facilities, so that they could work in a much more flexible way.
The spaces inside the design are planned to be open and can adapt to the different needs in different times.
Therefore, the design of the design incorporates technology such as the latest online meeting conference systems, interactive LED walls for exhibition use. The idea is to create spaces which could be transformed quickly according to different needs.
SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: Measuring 1500sqm the office. By incorporating the needs such as exhibition, interaction, conferences, gym and relaxation, the spatial planning combines the functions of work, rest, eat, drink, talk, sports altogether.

RESEARCH ABSTRACT: The research is based on studying what the global pandemics has affected the way people work as a starting point, in order to rethink the way people, need to design a future office. A lot of studies reflect that due to the pandemics, many people have become used to working from home and found new ways to work with each other remotely. Many companies have suddenly realised the business can still be operated without making all workers to work in the same office space. Therefore, this has hugely affected the global office rental market, many cities have over supplied office spaces as many companies have not required to rent such a large office anymore. The research told that people go the office mainly to have meetings and then afterwards they will go home to work in a more flexible environment. So, this has really inspired the way QUAD Studio design team have to re-invent a new type of office for the future.
CHALLENGE: After the research, the most difficult challenge comes with how do QUAD Studio design team design a future office that would encourage people to come to the office? Besides working, what functions could they bring into the design, so that the workers do not feel they are just 'locked up' in the same space during office hours. In thinking this way, QUAD Studio design team began to mix different kinds of environment into a traditional office, such as exhibition, lounge, bar and restaurants, library, gym, and yoga. By incorporating these different functions into the design, the people who work there could mix working routine into their daily social life, in an interesting and flexible way.
