RESEARCH ABSTRACT: The design process involved studying the history and significance of Akhaedokje, the Korean Peninsula's terrain, and the symbolism of the rosary. Sketches and 3D modeling were utilized for concept development, and various materials and techniques, including white gold, yellow gold, and diamond setting, were explored. Feedback from experts and peers was gathered throughout the process, which led to a refined and meaningful design representing the desire for unification and peace in the Korean Peninsula.
CHALLENGE: The primary challenge was combining the ancient ritual of Akhaedokje with the symbolism of a rosary, while reflecting the Korean Peninsula's terrain and aspirations for unification and peace. Achieving a harmonious balance between the intricate details, such as handcrafted twists and diamond settings, and the overall design required a delicate touch. Additionally, the implementation of the spring/hinge/parting mechanism in the lower right section proved to be a complex task, pushing the boundaries of craftsmanship
