DESIGN NAME: Beyond Appearances
PRIMARY FUNCTION: Art Paint Showroom
INSPIRATION: Inspired by classical Chinese gardens and drawing on the philosophical ideas of Eastern gardens, we have liberated traditional imagery and infused contemporary aesthetic awareness to create a poetic space that embodies the imagery of a garden within an indoor environment.
UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Diverse artistic paint has been used to create the space, abstractly translating classical Chinese garden imagery. Spatially, the concept of "seeing the whole in the part" is conveyed through the interplay of light and shadow, changing scenery, and the flow of space. As one wanders through the silent space, they are able to transcend into infinite imagination.

RESEARCH ABSTRACT: Artistic paint is a special type of coating that contains a large amount of pigments and fillers, allowing it to produce a wide range of colors and textures. It can be used not only for wall and ceiling decoration, but also as a surface coating for furniture, sculptures, and other art pieces. As such, for a space showcasing artistic paint, we aim for it to be full of artistic and unique beauty, providing visitors with a distinctive spatial experience. We drew inspiration from the expression techniques of traditional Oriental gardens and incorporated them into a modern interior design that better meets the needs of humanity.
CHALLENGE: In the treatment of the top ceiling, the height was intentionally lowered on the right side, creating discomfort in contrast to the open space vaguely visible on the left. This prompts visitors entering the passage to move forward, following the planned route psychologically. The building originally had an unremovable column, and a sloping roof was designed to cover the indoor space. Two columns were built beside the column to support the roof, forming a three-pronged column. To avoid making it look too heavy and cumbersome, one of the columns was cut and blended into the building template texture, creating a seamless experience for showcasing artistic paint products.
