Natural Aromatherapy Humidifier
INSPIRATION:
People are more yearning for a natural and healthy living environment, and the demand for humidifiers also increases. Most of the humidifiers on the market are difficult to achieve natural and healthy aromatherapy effect, and floral fragrance is often the most natural real fragrance. Organic combination of pot and humidifier, in the process of humidification, can meet the cultivation environment of flowers, flowers blooming aroma mixed with the humidifier released moisture in the face.
UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION:
Potpourri is a natural aromatherapy humidifier combined with flowers. Water and humidify flowers through the humidifier. When the humidifier works, natural flowers will be accompanied by flowers, which can achieve the dual effect of humidification and aromatherapy. Potpourri uses transparent acrylic cover material to prevent the plants from being damaged while receiving natural light. It can also create a relatively closed space for flower plants, thus achieving partial water circulation.
OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION:
When working on Potpourri, atomized water vapor can be used to humidify and replenish water for flowers. As Potpourri humidifies, the scent molecules in the flowers are dispersed into the air along with the water mist for humidifying and aromatherapy effects. Potpourri has two buttons: adjusting gear and switch. The function button can be used to adjust the power gear of the humidifier, and long press to set the working time; Switch button Tap the switch and hold down to set the standby state.
PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION:
The project started in November 2022 at in fushun, liaoning province, China, and finished in March 2023 at in fushun, liaoning province China.

PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY:
Potpourri uses ultrasonic humidification and high-frequency ultrasonic shock to turn water mist into ultrafine particles. The water mist can also be diffused into the air along with the oil cells in the petals, which can freshen the air, improve health and create a comfortable environment. Potpourri chooses transparent acrylic cover as the external protection material, which does not hinder the lighting of flowers, but also plays the role of protecting flowers, and can form an independent circulation system.

RESEARCH ABSTRACT:
The fast pace of life makes people pursue a healthier and more close to the natural living environment. As a small household appliance commonly used by modern people, humidifier brings users a healthy living environment, but also needs to create a more close to the natural environment. Potpourri humidifier combines flowers to humidify users and create a suitable ecological environment for breeding flowers. The fragrance of flowers will be diffused along with the work of the humidifier, thus creating a healthier and natural environment for users.
CHALLENGE:
The focus of this design project is to add a function that meets the needs of modern people for humidifier, and the increase of aromatherapy function is the design focus of this project. The difficulty of this design project is to implant the flowers perfectly into the humidifier. When the humidifier works, it is necessary to achieve the planting environment of the flowers and perfectly diffuse the oil molecules in the petals into the air.

Liaoning Petrochemical University（School of Art and Design）
PROFILE:
As the first petroleum school of New China, Liaoning Petrochemical University (LNPU) was founded in Dalian in 1950, relocated to Fushun in 1953 and renamed Fushun Petroleum Institute in 1958. When transferred to the governance of the Liaoning Provincial Government in February, 2000, the institution changed its name to Liaoning Petrochemical University with the approval of the Ministry of Education (MOE) in February, 2002. In March, 2010, a partnership agreement was signed between LSHU and Liaoning Provincial Government, China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC), China Petroleum & Chemical Corporation (SINOPEC) and China National Offshore Oil Corporation (CNOOC). With the development for the past 69 years, LNPU has evolved into a comprehensive university, specialized in petroleum and petrochemical engineering with eight well-coordinated disciplines which include engineering, science, economics, management, literature, law, education and art. LNPU was graded as excellent in the 2007 MOE Undergraduate Teaching Assessment. Designated by the Ministry of Education, the university is now a training base for high-level ethnic talent and a preparatory base for ethnic undergraduates. Meanwhile it is a training base for urgently-needed undergraduate talent in petrochemical industry in Liaoning province. Up to now, this university has turned out over 120,000 graduates for China’s petroleum and petrochemical industry, most of whom have become backbones in management and technology. To achieve quality development, LNPU highlights key roles in talent cultivation by upgrading disciplinary structures and teaching resources, which has now greatly improved teaching efficiency and comprehensive strength. The university covers an area of 1890 mu (126 hectare), and a floor area totaled 532000m2. The campus library houses 2.9343 million paper or electronic books and 42 research databases. Various sports grounds cover 92.700m2. The teaching and research facilities reach 68 million yuan. The university consists of a college and 16 schools with 52 undergraduate majors. On-campus full-time students total 18,400. It offers 2 joint doctoral programs, 14 first-tier master’s programs, 62 second-tier master programs, and 6 master degree programs including Master of Engineering (covering 10 fields), Master of Business Administration (MBA), Master of Public Administration (MPA), and Master of Professional Accounting (MPAcc), Master of Translation and Interpreting (MTI) and Master of Fine Art (MFA). It is also listed as a first-class discipline (Grade A) university in Liaoning province.
