| DESIGN NAME: Trido PRIMARY FUNCTION: Magnetic Building Blocks INSPIRATION: The inspiration came from the sculpture and plaster casting and origami technology. The idea was to make an infinitely transforming piece of décor that could be rebuilt into different shapes, and different styles: a sculpture, a vase, a holder etc. "Playing" with a transformable piece of décor awakes an artist soul and inspires to create. Different mood - different sculpture, new style - new piece of decor - that is how Trido magnetic art works. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Trido is a set of magnetic building blocks, based on the geometry of Platonic solids - the shapes of tetrahedron and octahedron. Thanks to a unique ingenious magnet system, each side of each shape connects to each other aligning along the edges and with no repealing, which allows limitless construction possibilities. Trido has a harmoniously balanced palette in nuances and contrasts. Trido is a distinctive inspirational tool. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: Trido magnetic blocks can be assembled in thousands of beautiful decor pieces, i.e. a sculpture, a vase, a mask, a holder and whatever comes on mind. It is very easy to build of Trido magnetic pieces, because shapes are very well magnetized and neither side repels the other. PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The development of first prototypes started in the mid of 2017. In 2020: the first sales started in Europe and China. PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: Trido has a patented magnetic system, which gives strong connection between shapes without repealing. That unique system allows a limitless versatility for assembling, and also makes it very pleasant and simple to assemble new designs. The shapes aligne themselves along the edges. The pieces are made of ABS plastic, while the magnets are safely hidden inside in a special inner "nest". Trido magnetic system is protected by the patents in the USA, European countries, China, Japan, Korea. Each piece size: Tetrahedron 50mm x 40mm x 40mm, Octahedron 50mm x 50mm x 70mm, Half-Tetrahedron 50mm x 40mm x 20mm TAGS: Trido, art, decor, magnetic blocks, sculpture, pyramidal, triangle geometry, home decor RESEARCH ABSTRACT: Artur Tikhonenko, the creator of Trido, was very interested in the sculpture and plaster casting and origami technology. He originally wanted to create magnetic biological shapes, but after making some prototypes, he came up with the idea of breaking through the biological series. After experimenting with different shapes, Artur found that only when tetrahedrons and octahedrons are combined in a specific way can they stick to each other without gaps. CHALLENGE: The most difficult part was to develop the magnetic inner system for different shapes. A lot of prototyping and testing were applied to find the right solution for the functional and appearance quality, along with the balance of technical issues of production. NAME: Trido Ltd PROFILE: Trido Ltd, the UK based company which was formed to be the holder of Trido Intellectual Property and product development hub. Artur Tikhonenko, one of the founders, is also the creator of Trido and he was born in Belarus. He has an outstanding artistic talent since he was a child. He has a strong interest in painting and handmade. He was even more keen on street art, graffiti creation when he was a teenager. The unfettered creative experience provided him with the direction and accumulation for his professional art path. Artur entered the design faculty of Belarusian State University, systematically learned 3D modeling, sculpture and plaster casting, and did a lot of research on origami art, especially the Japanese origami flower ball kusudama. Artur was also abscessed with the modular origami system - building shapes with more or less modules. This also laid the foundation for him to create Trido. |
