| DESIGN NAME: Sonder Moments PRIMARY FUNCTION: Naked Eye 3D Art INSPIRATION: The ordinary and mundane human society in the modern world evolves into boundless universe on spur of moment, breathing into the art piece life and exuberance from a different time and space. Not only does the maximization of larger-than-life effect brings a strong visual impact on the audience, but the huge figure of the colossus also serves as a manifestation of the awakening of self-consciousness and the power of individuals. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Sonder Moments, is a naked-eye 3D public art piece showcased on the digital billboard in the central area of Chengdu, China. Through digital media and visual design, a surreal spectacle is created in the urban landscape, blurring the boundary between virtuality and reality. This public art piece allows the audience to experience the wonder of travelling through time and space right in the middle of the city center. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: Displayed in the public space of the city center, naked-eye 3D technology on larger-than-life objects provides captivating experiences. With live-action filming, visual effects, creative concepting and advanced rendering technology, we have helped achieve the brand equity and commercialization of products. PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: CG, Naked-Eye 3D Technology SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: With this naked-eye 3D public artwork, the team used Maya for the animation and Nuke for the visual effects. The colossus is displayed on a LED billboard with the resolution of 8K and size of 888 square meters. The team designed the piece with elements of flowers, marbles and glass and with particle visual effects on the meteorites. TAGS: Naked-eye 3D billboard, out-of-home advertisement, CG, digital art, public art, larger-than-life RESEARCH ABSTRACT: As the internal exploration of the public emerged during the post-pandemic era, we decided to center our research around the emotional health and social well-being. The colossus in Sonder Moments is the ultimate embodiment of the strength of self-consciousnes, which aims to alleviate the anxiety around us and place emotional value onto the society with digital easthetics. CHALLENGE: We have come across the challenges of achieving both softness and hardness on the colossus with visual effects to manifest its ever-lasting life and engergy. Also we have made a lot of efforts when trying to create the pink grass, avoid distorsion and differentiate the Colossus II with Colossus I.
