| DESIGN NAME: Albi Home PRIMARY FUNCTION: Smart Wine Dispencer INSPIRATION: Albi was born thanks to a Design Thinking approach. Creative research is at the basis of the idea and has been the engine of all subsequent phases. We designed a system, not just a physical product, capable of providing key solutions for the business model as well. The solution was conceived starting from an accurate analysis of the latent needs of wine consumers. It has happened to each of us to desist from tasting a glass of good wine, for fear to waste the rest. Albi is the solution... UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: This product represents the all-in-one solution that allows you to drink your wine at the right temperature every time as if it were just opened. Once you uncork the bottle, your wine starts losing its flavor and aroma. This is due to oxidation. As a result, you throw away the bottle with the leftover wine, which is already past its best. Albi uses a proprietary technology to preserve the wine for up to 6 months after uncorking the bottle. This is 8x longer than any other existing technologies. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: Albi Home is a smart kitchen appliance that makes it possible to taste every wine at the ideal temperature and preserve them for up to 6 months from the first opening, without using any gas. By inserting a Smart Bag containing the wine, the dispenser will recognize which wine it is using NFC technology. It will show on its display the wine data and automatically bring it to the perfect serving temperature. PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The beginning of the development work of the idea dates back to 2018, between Foligno and Terni, in Umbria Region. In the following years mechanical prototypes and some tests relating to design have been developed. The first 3000 definitive items will be released in June 2023. PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: The exterior body of the dispenser will be made of ABS by injection molding. A surface finish will be applied to the plastic material shells through a painting process, according to a color scale able to enhance the product aesthetic. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: Height: 450 mm; Width: 200 mm; Depth: 250 mm. TAGS: Wine Dispenser, Smart Home Appliances, IoT, Wine Preservation, Wine Tasting RESEARCH ABSTRACT: Research with real interviews with stakeholders was conducted. We collected ideas, impressions, desires, and we found the latent need that we needed, how to preserve wine over time after opening the bottle. We wanted to be focused on the development of one unprecedented technical and aesthetic solution. We developed styling templates together with the engineers who were developing the interior components and managed to build a single, sleek body. CHALLENGE: When the first prototype was ready, it immediately clears what the risk was, that is, making another bulky box. At this point, allowing the ergonomic and the user's experience to speak for themselves, a shape was modelled to find the right balance between technology, usability, and elegant appearance. NAME: Albicchiere PROFILE: Albicchiere takes its name from the Italian saying "al bicchiere", which expresses the way of drinking wine by the glass. Albicchiere's story begins in the 2017. After the presentation of the concept, the startup immediately received a lot of interest, so much so that it was awarded the CES 2020 Innovation Award in Las Vegas, at the most important consumer electronics event in the world. The first model, Albi Home M, was launched with a crowdfunding campaign on the Kickstarter platform and soon after on Indiegogo. The campaign reached a total of more than 1000 supporters in 61 countries. |
