| DESIGN NAME: Gambit PRIMARY FUNCTION: Chess Table INSPIRATION: It was inspired by industrial machinery from the late 18th and early 19th century, during the Industrial revolution. Machines' mechanisms were exposed for simple visual inspection and service. Gambit resembles complex mechanical systems found in early steam machine technology. It is designed to expose all machine-made components, fixtures, and functionality. The aesthetics elegantly combine the art of war, and chess-playing with the rough exposure system to generate a sublime experience for the players. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: This chess table is a one-of-a-kind piece that takes inspiration from the late industrial revolution era. It features an asymmetrical design made up of aluminum elements that support two oval glass tops. The topmost glass serves as the playing surface for chess while the lower one can hold beverages or other items. The table has a shiny and intricate appearance, with a complex base consisting of two vertical shafts connected by horizontal extensions. The main shaft has four subsystems with four arms extending from a ring to support the glass top and three stabilizing legs at the bottom. An extension from the middle of the main shaft runs to a lean shaft that functions as a fourth leg and supports the second glass top. The table combines form and function in a sophisticated and stylish way, making it a unique piece of furniture. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: Sophisticated plus a modern gentleman's chess table. Simply holds drinks, cigars, and cellphones on the luxurious auxiliary top for extra space on the board surface. Or keep captured board pieces with style. The oval board game surface provides easy movement around the board to aloud multitasking. It is a luxurious gentleman's decorative piece. PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: Table Tops are produce on 12mm template glass. The base is produce is aluminum on lathe and mills by master craftsman. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: Dimensions:1010mm/65 TAGS: unique design, gentleman, luxury, cigars, chess RESEARCH ABSTRACT: Created by Industrial design methodology: project management, budgeting, PR, research, hand sketching, 3d modelling, constant client feedback, material selection, production technique selection, producer selection, production supervision, quality control, and delivery. CHALLENGE: Creating custom luxury items can take some time since clients tend to be very busy individuals and feedback is slow, but that is the nature of the job.
