| DESIGN NAME: House of Joy PRIMARY FUNCTION: Residential Design INSPIRATION: The client of House of Joy is a modern, independent female who works in the mobile gaming industry. She is in love with soft colors and spaciousness, she also loves comfort and lives with her cat. So, the designer set out with the dream of create a colorful house with soft forms, where amorphous lines and sharp lines meet, and he aimed to turn it into a modern haven where the residents can escape the busyness of city life and find peace, relaxation, and joy. They both serve the client and of course the cat. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: House of Joy is located in a famous residence in Ankara, which is the capital of Turkey. The flat is on the 21st floor, with a beautiful view and a very large terrace. The house is divided into three volumes: the central volume with the living area, the kitchen, and the home office; the sleeping quarters with two bedrooms and two bathrooms; and the terrace quarter with the outdoor space, dining room, and library. The designer had to create comfortable and functional spaces in every part by considering the cat. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: Based on the client’s daily life, the designer has managed the place with light tone color so as to make the space look fresher. The old plan did not serve the client's needs as well. The designer rebuilt most of the walls and planned a new architecture based on the client's needs which not only makes the client use the space much more flexibly but also extends the sense of visual perception. He created a larger living space by adding half of the terrace area to the house. He reconstructed the ceilings, resulting in a greater ceiling height. PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: The designer developed 3D renders and plans throughout this house's design to best support his ideas and showed his client what her interior design project would resemble. The designer combined custom-made pieces with specially picked design items from renowned brands such as Miniforms, Varier Furniture, Tom Dixon, Foscarini, Marset. With the amazing deployment of pastel colors, wood textures, amorphous surfaces, systematic cabinets, linear lighting, roller blinds, and nice natural lighting, the materials in light color have extended perfectly to the ground, walls, and ceiling. Also, considering the inner environment of the house, the designer has established the configuration with function and client expectations. The designer has taken advantage of the light of the space, and supplemented the space with natural material, pastel color paints, and wood, establishing a delicate configuration and sense of layers. CHALLENGE: The creativity of this project lies in integrating the cat's needs into this project, and the bigger challenge is how to deal with each space because the cat is also considered in this project. The designer had to think like a cat while designing this house because he had to create comfortable and functional spaces in every region by considering the cat.
