| DESIGN NAME: Orizzonte 02 PRIMARY FUNCTION: Card Case INSPIRATION: When I was fishing before dawn and saw the blue hour landscape, I noticed that the scale pattern on the fish leather resembled ocean waves and came up with the idea of a leather item that represents the sea with fish leather and the sky with gradient leather. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The concept is "Carry the scenery with you". The fish leather represents "the waves of the sea", while the gradient leather represents "the changing colours of the sky". The colour variations are named "L'ora blu (Blue Hour)" and "Il notturno (Night Scene)", with the sea and sky of each hour expressed in fish leather and gradient leather. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: Using the traditional Japanese bellows manufacturing technique of "Fu-kin-machi,& PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project started in November 2021. Samples are completed in December 2022, with pre-orders starting in February 2023. |
PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: Fish leather made from discarded fish skin and gradient leather dyed in layers of colour one by one using dyes. In addition, the edges are beautifully finished with high strength by Leather Edge Creaser. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: W110×H75×D15mm Fish leather:Skin of yellowtail Leather:Steerhide TAGS: Fish leather, Skin of Yellowtail, Gradient leather, Steerhide, Card Case RESEARCH ABSTRACT: By making effective use of fish skin as fish leather, which would otherwise have been thrown away, the company believes it is possible to reduce the burden on the environment. In addition, the design not only uses fish leather, but also makes use of the fish scale pattern. CHALLENGE: After continually searching for a way to achieve a beautiful gradation and repeatedly making samples, we were finally able to create a gradation leather that we were satisfied with. The scale pattern of the fish leather represents "ocean waves" and the gradation leather represents "the changing sky". We depict beautiful scenery in leather and offer leather items that make you want to gaze them all the time. |
