DESIGN NAME: Ysm House Parallel Lines
PRIMARY FUNCTION: Luxury Penthouse
INSPIRATION: This Central Israel-located prestigious penthouse was bought by a young family who dreamt of a penthouse that would be a kind of Resort for them. This refers to a sense of freedom, elegance, warmth, and intimacy imbued with a warm modern style so well-identified with the interior architect. The parallel lines created as part of the initial planning were leading lines for a design language that was reiterated throughout the various elements making up that space. These lines appear in various versions, both horizontally and vertically, in the spatial enclosures, kitchen design, and other tailor-made elements.
UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: This penthouse is unique in that all its materials are carefully linked to each other to create a precise harmonical look. There is no wall or corner here that was not well-planned in advance. Each wall and element in this apartment were carefully planned and manufactured down to the small details and stitched together like a Tailored suit. The studio believes in Total Design in which the home functions as a single harmonious and synchronized unit.
OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: Moran Gozali believes that a home is not only a place where we live but where we experience, feel, and create moments. The challenge was to create a design experience, whose details all joined together to create a complete, integral, and harmonized space. Many technical and functional issues had to be solved in the best way. The designer needs to be an orchestra conductor of all the systems that together will function as one sustained synchronized continuous system.
PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project started in May 2019 in Be'er Ya'akov, Israel
and finished in November 2021 in Be'er Ya'akov, Israel.

PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: At the entrance to the penthouse, there is an impressive wall covering made of Granit stone with different brass strips of differing rhythms. To emphasize the resort feeling was chosen identical flooring, each tile is 1 by 3 m, inside and out, stressing continuity and space. On the balcony, planned a 12 m-long wooden pergola with horizontal lighting strips of various sizes and rhythms. It creates a boundary around the sides and top part of the balcony.
SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: The penthouse covers 220 sqm. One of the challenges was to find a way to separate different spaces in the Master Bedroom, in a way that would still create camouflage and concealment. the division into 4 sliding doors of an aluminum and glasses partition with vertical stripes was the solution and still creates privacy and intimacy. The planning was complex, with a system of a hidden built-in rail in the ceiling, to create a uniform level of the track and the ceiling as one unit.

RESEARCH ABSTRACT: The Italian kitchen comprises two parallel islands with different designs and functions. The first is for cooking was designed as an enclosed mass, with wooden doors and a granite surface. The second serves as a sitting area and was decided to subtract from the material, with aluminum unit support and open shelves, to provide an elegant, airy, and ethereal look. The book-match lighting elements above the islands combine vertical and horizontal brass poles, and from each direction, they present a different new dimension.
CHALLENGE: The TV wall is a real design monument, a carpentry wall combined with book-match Panda stone. The challenge was to stitch together all materials while hiding some technical systems: fireplace flute, vertical air-conditioning, audio systems, and storage units while maintaining a well-designed aesthetics. The design is very precise, making these technical systems integral as one system-wide harmony. It is an infinite struggle to find the right formula and the connections that together create the ultimate and exciting meeting point that is timeless.
