| DESIGN NAME: Triangle PRIMARY FUNCTION: Table INSPIRATION: The theme of this design is growth. Because growth is a structural form with strong vitality. Digital design itself also imitates the growth form to create random form.So we try to use digital design to grow a table like a tree. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: During exploration in digital design, designer tried to grow a table. It has an irregular desktop, which is made by Medium Density Fiberboard (MFD), and hold up intricate and branch like steel legs. Besides, users can arrange tables into different kind of patterns with mathematical logic, as well as gain entertaining. It is used in an open office or coffee shop to make the space more rhythmic. Curve desktop facilitates communication. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: The mathematical logic of equality and symmetry is used to create the straight line edge of the table. Users can make different shapes according to their needs. The surface and the supporting structure are connected by bolts, and users can change the color of the table according to their preference. PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project started in November 2019 in Hangzhou and finished in August 2020 in Hangzhou. FITS BEST INTO CATEGORY: Furniture Design |
PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: Digital design is a new design method that people and computer cooperate to design. We give computer some framework instructions, computer algorithm automatically control line or surface to generate some random shapes. Designers design products by adjusting these forms and combining with traditional design methods. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: 1560mm * 1110mm * 740mm Each Multiple sizes can be formed to match multiple scenes TAGS: table, desk, office, commercial furniture, modular design, digital design RESEARCH ABSTRACT: Digital design, a dynamic design style, pursuing uncertainties, can create a huge amount of variate by logical algorithm, as well as interact with human. Therefore, these random states and results of a new sense of openness bring people in certain environment more space of imagination, which we believe will change our way of thinking someday. CHALLENGE: Social perspectives challenge the public's understanding of traditional tables. Technology implementation. it is necessary to consider the matching between different modular design and space and scene, as well as the scale and shape conforming to the environmental changes.
