DESIGN NAME: Evolution Design
PRIMARY FUNCTION: Website
INSPIRATION: Architecture and design studio Evolution Design prides itself on creating spaces that focus on the user experience. Yet, the studio’s initial website, which was 10 years old, was aesthetically and technologically out-dated and no longer reflected the studio’s ethos. Evolution Design collaborated with web agency Netgen to re-design its website and create a clean, user-friendly and aesthetic appearance to shine a light on Evolution Design’s projects, skills and team.
UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The re-launched website embodies Evolution Design’s values and design approach. It has been achieved through the prominent placement of projects from different categories, highlighting studio’s wide range of work. The focus on human-centred design has been achieved by showcasing our team and our clients. Aesthetically, the site is clean, dynamic and user-friendly through the use of white space and image galleries resembling mood boards and the interplay of typographical elements.
OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: The main interaction happens through top navigation. It was essential to the design team to deliver an easily navigable website. This was achieved by deciding against having a navigation bar that disappears as the user scrolls down the page and instead implementing a sticky navigation bar. The benefits of a functional navigation where content is always visible outweighed purely aesthetic considerations. Call-to-action buttons throughout the page facilitate the second level of interaction.
PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The revamp of our website began in February 2021 and the new, re-designed website was launched in October 2022. Design and development teams worked in Zurich, Switzerland and Zagreb, Croatia.

RESEARCH ABSTRACT: The most important aspect of the design was to create a digital identity that conveys our values, is eye-catching and addresses our target audience. We had several workshops to define our goals, vision, USP and key messages, and to define personas or potential website visitors and their journeys throughout our website. Through this process, four target groups were identified: potential clients, existing clients, the general audience and the media. The structure of the website, its aesthetic and user experience design were then customized to appeal to these four main categories.
CHALLENGE: The biggest design and development challenge was to make the site appear light and effortless without losing our signature design touch. The essential element of this design concept are the image collages that resemble architectural mood boards. They can contain up to four images and can have six different coloured backgrounds. Implementing these mood boards was technically challenging and required setting up 11 image modules, in addition to the regular large-scale images and photo galleries.
