| DESIGN NAME: Pullman Yuxi PRIMARY FUNCTION: Deluxe Five Star Hotel INSPIRATION: The inspiration for the project comes from the raindrops, cooking smoke, and clouds in the plateau water town. The designer skillfully integrates the building and the mountain, reinterprets it with modern craftsmanship and aesthetics, and breaks the inherent thinking. The sense of interaction with nature becomes the prominent element of this design. The indoor and outdoor spaces are connected through the site and the building, just like being in the picturesque mountain nature. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The project goal was to create a hotel in harmony with nature. Make the most of the outdoor landscape. Using water as a medium to depict the colors of the world and the panorama of Yuxi also adds a symbolic memory point to the hotel. The concept of artistic conception and imagery in Chinese painting is applied to the space, which is simple and elegant, reflecting the rich oriental beauty. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: This project connects the indoor and outdoor spaces through the site and the building, bringing the combination of the indoor space and the external natural scenery. PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project started in August 2021 in Yuxi City, Yunnan Province, China, and finished in July 2022. FITS BEST INTO CATEGORY: Interior Space and Exhibition Design |
PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: The designer applied Yunnan's unique craftsmanship, the texture of traditional ethnic architecture and unique details to the interior design, deeply presenting the customs and local humanistic spirit. Make a new interpretation of traditional elements and express the art of life in details. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: The hotel covers an area of about 34,000 square meters, with a total construction area of about 60,000 square meters. TAGS: Banshan Resort, interaction with nature, regional culture, poetry, luxury hotel, interior RESEARCH ABSTRACT: The project is located in Yunnan Province, where the prosperity of mountain tourism has brought a huge demand for resort hotel design. The designer researched the issue of mid-mountain resorts that have attracted much attention in the local tourism industry, that is, resorts integrated with mountains. The specific goal was to explore how the hotel spaces could be integrated with the original landscape. We have borrowed some methods from ancient books of Chinese landscape painting and classical gardening methods and combined them with modern design aesthetics. The designer hopes to bring some new ideas to the local "Mid-mountain Hotel" trend, such as the combination of traditional painting aesthetics, the discovery and utilization of local handicrafts, and the protection of the original natural environment. CHALLENGE: During the project process, the mountainous terrain brought certain restrictions to the design, while the design and construction took into account the protection of the original natural environment. Through ingenious design, each room has plenty of light, and at the same time, the use of environmentally friendly materials reduces the impact on the vegetation and animals of the nearby forest.
