| DESIGN NAME: Umma PRIMARY FUNCTION: Indoor Outdoor Armchair INSPIRATION: The search for an outdoor armchair that is light, sophisticated, and unique has culminated in the Umma Armchair. This chair brings a coastal, nautical ambiance to any space, perfect for relaxing in for some much deserved leisure time, both indoors and outdoors. Its cushions wrap you in a comforting embrace, transporting you to a peaceful, timeless haven by the shore. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The graceful curves and seamless lines of the Umma outdoor indoor Armchair distinguish it from other offerings in its category. Not only is Umma Armchair ideal for seating, but it can also be appreciated as a work of art, capable of fitting in with any decor, both indoors and outdoors. Its dimensions are carefully crafted to ensure optimal comfort. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: The Umma Armchair is designed to bring both comfort and aesthetics. Its spacious, cushioned lines create a relaxing seating experience both indoors and outdoors. Its unique design makes it a piece of art, perfect for savoring the present moment and tranquil moment, reminiscent of a peaceful vacation by the shore. PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: This project started in november 2022 during Design Tank immersion and design competition in Bento Goncalves, RS, Brazil and now it is going to be produced by Sulvimes. PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: The armchair frame is made of aluminium, a recyclable material, and nautical rope. The upholstery is tailored with technical fabrics for a comfortable experience. It is designed to be weather-resistant yet comfortable and attractive to provide a place to relax and entertain outdoors. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: width 900 mm depth 700 mm height 800 mm TAGS: armchair, nautical rope, outdoor furniture, outdoor living, nautical, rope armchair RESEARCH ABSTRACT: The goal of the project was to create a visually lightweight and sophisticated outdoor armchair, achieving the perfect aesthetic balance. To ensure durability and strength, aluminum structure was combined with nautical rope and technical fabric. CHALLENGE: The task of creating an aesthetically pleasing technical solution, while considering comfort, sustainability, and the ability to produce multiple items from a few basic elements, proved to be a great challenge.
