DESIGN NAME: Seismic Mobile
PRIMARY FUNCTION: Application
INSPIRATION: Designing a mobile app instead of an old-fashioned hand terminal, which other seismic systems have, is a unique idea for instant security services, enhancing user mobility and quick reaction. All technical information is organized in a user-friendly way. When it comes to enjoyable and engaging interaction, it is inspired by computer games for radar and alarm pages.
UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The main idea in the project is to offer an instant security service for facilities based on seismic sensor technology. The system consists of sensors, modems, and a mobile app that controls the entire system about sensor setup, settings, radar, and notification checks. What makes the app unique is its specialized and easy-to-use functions instead of an extra handheld device. Despite the technical content, usage is easy for every user thanks to familiar experiences from daily-life apps.
OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: The app is divided into four main submenus for each function. (1) Notifications: Alarms and warnings informing the user for any variable type of occasion. (2) Radar system: showing the sensor locations and distances. (3) Sensor list: indicating the sensor setup and properties. Finally, (4) Settings: General app and gateway settings. Red, yellow, blue, and gray colors convey the messages clearly on a dark background. Changing actions and the opacity of images also specify meaningful content.

PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: One hardware package includes 12 ground-embedded seismic sensors that are wirelessly connected to a master modem known as a gateway. A mobile app for the customers communicates with the system via Bluetooth, WiFi, GPS, and NFC technologies. UX-UI interaction and the prototype of the app are designed in Figma Software.
SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: The app is responsive for all screen sizes and universally applicable for all Android and iOS phones.

RESEARCH ABSTRACT: User research, literature review, and field studies are processed to investigate the feasibility of developing a mobile app for this device and to discover the users' needs and expectations. Insights focused on keeping the interface as simple as possible. The goal is to prevent users from learning new interactions by providing familiar experiences based on their daily app habits.
CHALLENGE: What is challenging for this project is controlling all the technical equipment wirelessly via a mobile app according to daily life habits. It consists of activating a gateway, matching it with a sensor group, defining the world locations of sensors, watching and controlling them on a radar screen, obtaining various signals, distinguishing if the feedback is an occasion or a sensor error, and transmitting this information to the user in a correct color code.
