| DESIGN NAME: The Woody Aroma of Cypress PRIMARY FUNCTION: Residential INSPIRATION: Surrounding with several owner’s wood sculpture art treasures, the Cypress filled flat is designed for a couple in the capital of Taiwan. openness and elegance. The purpose of this design is to bring wood into a flat while remains Modern. The interior is equipped by different styles and colours based on the couple’s characteristic, but with the same elements, wood and stone. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Inspired by the connection between the owner and the geographical environment, the value of the space is created by several natural materials and collections. Brings cypress into the home, the client, who has been storing “Formosan Cypress” for more than thirty years. The project is to refurbished the 225 square meters apartment with the clients’ precious historical treasure both decorative and practical. After combining clients’ expectation, it took the team 8 months to complete the modern prime location apartment. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: The core of the flat, TV wall has been placed with a rare Tiffany Blue Marble from Brazil that creates an elegant vibe and given an upgrade with the space. Wood has also been used throughout the entire apartment in order to meet the clients’ expectation, from the ceiling to the floor, not only beautiful, but practical. Wood cabinetry turns storage into design, wood element moving from the ceiling decorated with the cypress wood to the worktop in the kitchen, last but not the least, Cypress dining table is perfect for entertaining while offering natural and humanistic atmosphere. Stone symbolises solidity and wood brings an automatic warmth and cosiness, together, creates a space that matched the character of its owner. PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project started in May 2021 in Taipei, Taiwan, and was completed in January 2022. FITS BEST INTO CATEGORY: Interior Space and Exhibition Design |
PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: The main materials of this project are marble floor and wall, ceramic tile, wood, brass metal, and metal. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: This is a 225 square meters flat TAGS: Marble, wood, Interior design, brass metal, Cypress RESEARCH ABSTRACT: Wood art pieces add an emotional link to family members and bear good memory while wood finishes and flooring bring warmth, marble is regarded as porous and soft that gives a luxurious feeling. CHALLENGE: The brief was simple, a space that contains “woods” while remaining modern uncluttered style. It is however not so easy when having a huge amount of wood into a stylish space.
