DESIGN NAME: Favly Petfood
PRIMARY FUNCTION: Packaging Design
INSPIRATION: Favly Petfood is a young German start-up. Sustainability, low CO2-emission, recycling, regional sourcing & processing are their core motto. The task was to show the quality and naturalness of the brand and product range, as well as to help them stand out on the pet food market with an eye-catching, unexpected packaging design and corporate image.
UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: For Favly Petfood, values like naturality, sustainability, close-production-circuit and high-end quality are the heart of their corporate beliefs. To support this message, break the actual codes of the “all-natural” vibe and get a strong recognition on shelves, a colorful, eye-catching and unexpected design was created.
OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: The range features fully recyclable packaging. The company attaches great importance to quality and sustainability. The bags can be easily torn open, resealed and stored several times after the first use.
PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project started in June 2022 and ended in October 2022 in Aachen/Germany.
The products are available for purchase online since November 2022 and from selected resellers in Aachen since January 2023.
In addition, the whole project is presented on the Wolkendieb Design agency website.

PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: The small pouches are made of FSC certified paper with an alimentary plastic inlay. The big pouches are made of mono-plastic. These materials are designed for easy recycling. All pouches have a resealable airtight zip to ensure a longer aroma. The meat rolls are made of aluminum foil. The logo is placed vertically and serves as a quality seal. To create a visual unity through the whole range, hand-drawn illustrations and bright colors were selected. Each meat variety has its own color scheme.
SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: The product range consists of three pouches of different sizes and a sausage pack. The small are 130 x 200 x 70 mm, the medium, 180 x 290 x 90 mm and the big ones, 260 x 300 x 110 mm. The meat rolls are 210 x 45 x 45 mm. Different materials were used, and every one can be easily recycled.

RESEARCH ABSTRACT: The market is flooded with new brands that are riding the "all-natural" trend with their products. Favly Petfood also proclaims this aspect, while claiming a bold and creative identity, and places the well-being of our four-legged friends at the heart of its concerns.
In order to break away from the current “all-natural” paper look trend in pet food packaging design, and to reflect this boldness and freshness, the company has opted for fresh and strong color schemes on their packaging, combined with hand-drawn illustrations of the products.
CHALLENGE: The products had to stand out visually from the competition and attract the attention of consumers. The visual concept had to be easily adaptable to the next products the brand wants to launch in 2023. Sustainability, naturalness, high quality and fun should be in the foreground here.
The biggest challenge for the creative team was the very tight timing during which the project was developed from scratch, hand in hand with the CEOs.
