DESIGN NAME: Seesaw
PRIMARY FUNCTION: Earphones
INSPIRATION: when we saw children playing on the seesaw in the park, we wondered if we could transpose this interesting interaction and the pleasure it generates into the product.Therefore, we designed the body of "Seesaw" as a semicircle., with the left and right earphones placed opposite each other in the charging compartment and rotated the charging compartment by using the center axis on both sides as the pivot point, thus switching the form of picking up and storing the earphones.
UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: "Seesaw" innovates the way of taking out and storing earphones, and its design is inspired by the seesaw in the children's park. The seesaw is one of the most popular amusement facilities in childhood. We refer to the structure of the seesaw and use the interactive behavior of pressing and rotating to evoke people's intuitive and interesting memories of playing the seesaw as a child, and at the same time complete the earphone taking and charging functions.
OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: "Seesaw" can be pressed and rotate the charging compartment to complete different functional state switch. 0 degrees when the product is closed; left and right rotation 60 degrees can open the charging compartment to remove the earphones. when the charging compartment is rotated 120 degrees to the left will the charging port be revealed. We cleverly use braille as a non-slip texture on the headset. At the same time, the magnets on the left and right earphones repel each. so they will not be misplaced when storing the earphones.
PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project started in Shenzhen in March 2022, was completed in Shenzhen in October 2022, and was exhibited at Global Sources Consumer Electronics Exhibition in Hong Kong in October 2022.

PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: "Seesaw" uses eco-friendly cathodic electrophoresis as the base layer, and then applies baking lacquer to its surface. Eco-friendly cathodic electrophoresis adheres the color to the entire product, ensuring that the product's metallic base color does not leak out from areas where the baking lacquer cannot adhere. The type of baking lacquer we use is PU lacquer, which removes the ink that covers the defective products during the spraying process and can reduce the scrap rate.

RESEARCH ABSTRACT: Background: We wanted to design a user-friendly and emotionally resonant earphones.
Methods: We collected ear and finger dynamic data of more than 500 users aged 18 to 35, and obtained the area with the highest overlap rate by superimposing primitives. The most suitable top curve of the charging case and the size of the fulcrum of the headset are obtained. Our product form strictly follows these data.
CHALLENGE: To ensure the compact appearance of the charging compartment design, we need to control the wall thickness of the charging compartment to a thin state, but the location of the charging compartment rotation axis is close to the edge of the product, it needs to have sufficient wall thickness to support the fixed. we conducted material tests on CNC prototypes of different thicknesses of different alloy by using AB test, and finally used a partially thickened zinc alloy shell to solve this problem.
