| DESIGN NAME: Merete PRIMARY FUNCTION: Lounge and Console Table Collection INSPIRATION: Merete is a stunning Lounge and Console Table Collection that draws inspiration from the sleek and luxurious aesthetic of modern yachts. As the creator of this exceptional collection, my motivation was to capture the essence of elegance and sophistication that is characteristic of high-end yachts and to bring that into interior design. My inspiration for this project was derived from the sheer beauty and design ingenuity of luxury yachts. I was inspired by the seamless way in which these vessels move across water and the sense of fluidity and grace that they exude. I wanted to capture that same sense of movement and grace in the design of Merete, so that it would appear to effortlessly glide through any space. Throughout the design process, my thoughts were focused on creating a collection that would be both functional and visually stunning, while also evoking a sense of luxury and refinement. I carefully considered every aspect of the design, from the shape and form of the pieces to the choice of materials and finishes, to ensure that each element would work harmoniously to create a cohesive and captivating collection. Overall, my goal with Merete was to create a collection that would transport people to a world of luxury and sophistication, evoking the feeling of being on board a stunning yacht while also serving a practical purpose in interior design. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Merete is a Lounge & Console Table Collection Inspired by Luxury Yachts. It uses a cantilever effect to appear as if gracefully gliding across space, creating an illusion of weightlessness. The void in the lounge seating adds a sense of flow and freedom of form. This exceptional design blends form and function, using premium materials and innovative design elements to impress and inspire. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: The Lounge and Console Table Collection is easy to use and operate. The seating area is designed for comfort and relaxation, and the table provides a convenient space for drinks, snacks, or other items. The cantilever effect creates an illusion of weightlessness and adds to the overall aesthetic appeal of the collection. The void within the lounge seating base creates a sense of openness and flow, allowing users to easily move in and out of the seating area. These design features provide a more enjoyable and functional experience, making the Lounge and Console Table Collection an ideal choice for those who want a luxurious and comfortable space to relax and unwind. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: The technical specifications of the Lounge and Console Table Collection include a cantilever effect that ensures a balanced and weightless appearance. CHALLENGE: The creative challenge was to create a streamlined design that appeared to be floating while being functional and using premium materials. The solution involved research, design iterations, and collaboration with engineering experts to incorporate counter-lever effects and voids in the base. The challenges of weight distribution and material use were addressed, resulting in a visually stunning and functional collection that positively impacted the luxury furniture industry.
