DESIGN NAME: Transformation
PRIMARY FUNCTION: Hotel
INSPIRATION: Communicated with the client when taking on this project, including the motivation for renovation, the necessary replacement, and the budget. The design is set as stylish and modern. The designers worked on three aspects: lighting, color palette, and corporate identity, removing outdated and old objects from the site and adding fashionable elements and lighting that are now popular with the public to create a space that meets the needs of the client and has a casual resort atmosphere.
UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Accented the area with spotlights and titanium stripes in titanium black and rose gold patterns. The hanging seascape series with stone-shaped cushions is infused with local natural elements. Used blue as the main color and a white ceiling to create the image of a blue sky, white clouds, and an ocean. And the faux green wall injects greenery into the B1 space. The one-piece artificial stone dining table makes the dining space bright and stylish, while the colorful ingredients become the highlight of the space. The round mirror on the wall extends the space, and the round LED lights on the kitchen island echo the mirror.
OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: The ceiling of the restaurant is semi-covered. The structural walls on the top floor are painted in dark gray to minimize the complex piping and wall mold, and the lower ceiling is decorated with white panels at various angles. The large and small panels and the rhythmic bevels create a more dynamic gradient design that also conceals ducts and air vents. In addition, the designers set up track lighting according to the brightness of the space.
PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project finished in September 2021 in Taiwan.

PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: Building materials: artificial stone, baking paint, moru glass, iron parts, artificial green wall, fabric, titanium-plated trim, wall cloth, and beige stone panel. The dining table is made of artificial stone, which is strong and wear-resistant and can avoid oil contamination in the crevices. One of the main walls is an artificial green wall to create a fresh and vibrant feeling of greenery in B1. Other environmentally friendly and non-toxic materials create a healthy and safe dining environment that is both aesthetically pleasing and practical.
SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: The project has a total of 995 square meters of interior space, with guest rooms, corridors, a merchandise area, and a restaurant. The building has four floors, each with 178.5 square meters (excluding the corridor) and 34.7 square meters of corridors. The merchandise area on the ground floor is approximately 23.1 square meters, while the B1 restaurant is 142.1 square meters.

RESEARCH ABSTRACT: The design team refined and integrated the design of various indicators. For example, the room number and directional guide were changed to metal letters to strengthen the details and enhance the design quality. Lastly, the design team retains the original flooring and staircase handrails as a symbol of the sentiment passed down from generation to generation. And rose gold, titanium plated trim, or fashionable wall cloth on the corridor facade. The new and the old coexist harmoniously, striking an excellent balance between functionality and design.
CHALLENGE: This project is on an outlying island, so it was difficult to deploy and assign work teams. Meanwhile, the designers were unable to supervise the whole project. For this reason, except for the crucial parts, the designers mostly solved problems and kept track of the progress through photos or videos. Under the constraints of time and distance, they must make urgent choices and adjust the drawings for various unexpected situations. Some of the building materials were in short supply and had to be ordered from Taiwan, which led the designers to consider the risk of damage and delivery time.
