DESIGN DETAILS
DESIGN NAME:
Rivalta

PRIMARY FUNCTION:
Wine Packaging

INSPIRATION:
Rivalta is a tribute to Pedro Pavone-Voglino, father of Félix Pavone who was the founder of Vina Santa Ema. Endowed with a wonderful pioneering spirit and great determination, in 1917 Pedro Pavone-Voglino embarked on the long journey from his home in Rivalta, in Piedmont, Italy to the New World. Upon arriving in Chile, he settled in Isla de Maipo where the landscape and its extraordinary characteristics for viticulture charmed him at once.

UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION:
Rivalta is an elegant brand, with a long trajectory and deep sense of origin. It comes from one of the highest vineyards in the Maipo Valley, known as Cerro Blanco, with an altitude of 1,000 meters on the Andes. This condition allows to produce very expressive wines with a deep color, great body, acidity and aromas. This location has become the heart of Santa Ema’s iconic wines. Rivalta is a limited production blend, which is made every year using the best 20 barrels of the winery’s red strains.

OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION:
This packaging is a limited production of 1,000 boxes per year. It is currently sold in Chile as well as in Santa Ema’s main markets such as China, Brazil, Hong Kong, and the Czech Republic among others.

PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION:
Rivalta was launched in June 2022 in Chile as the first market.

RESEARCH ABSTRACT:
The design of the Rivalta Gift Box was the result of several previous technical tests during the trial period so as to enhance the design and establish the percentage of folia, red and silver ink of the illustration and this way define which one interpreted the new personality of this product in the best manner. Five different printing originals were elaborated until reaching the desired result.

CHALLENGE:
The challenge of this packaging consisted of designing the Rivalta label so that it would maintain some of its initial characteristics but at the same time managed to revitalize the passionate and adventurous spirit of the pioneer generations, focusing on the place of origin of the Pavone family. Red now plays an important role in Rivalta's new personality, making it more elegant and sophisticated.
