DESIGN NAME: Self Assemble 3D Scan
PRIMARY FUNCTION: Drone
INSPIRATION: Based on the construction of carbon fiber, designer chooses the modular structure for the sake of easy assembly for ordinary consumers. The full carbon fiber frame can greatly improve the rigidity with less weight. In terms of electromechanical structure, it adopts 3D camera and two-way 60°linear laser transmitter to achieve relatively stable scanning and meet the needs of high-altitude scanning at civil level.
UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: 3D scan drone has always been an expensive industrial device, but this product is specially designed as a civil 3D scan drone for ordinary consumers with very low cost. The product includes a set of carbon fiber structural parts and electromechanical parts to achieve the construction of 3D photos and recording of 3D scenery.
OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: Ordinary consumers can easily assemble this product of design and quickly apply it in practical operations to record 3D photos for special memories during travel.
PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project began in London in August 2021 and was completed in London in August 2022.

RESEARCH ABSTRACT: This is a lightweight self-assembled civilian 3D scanning drone.
CHALLENGE: As for the design of the drone with carbon fiber structure, it’s necessary to take into account the material features for repeated experiments and structural adjustments. Meanwhile, in order to achieve relatively stable 3D scanning, several structural optimizations have been carried out on the positional relationship of two laser generators and one scanning camera.
