| DESIGN NAME: Xishuang Linyu PRIMARY FUNCTION: Marketing Center INSPIRATION: How can culture be expressed through design? Combining the genes of local culture and standardized space, the designer has designed a variety of sculptural hangings and ornaments with distinctive Dai characteristics. This allows people to better appreciate the customs of Dai Nationality. According to the designer, the design's original purpose from the start was to portray relaxed pleasure. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The designer works to seek common ground while preserving differences in the collision between contemporary art and local humanities of Xishuangbanna. With the focus on folk culture and living experiences, work has been done to pay homage to local humanities and create a space model in Xishuangbanna. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: The form of screen resembles the winding shape of rainforest, and the different cultural artefacts sculpt the texture of space. The designer adjusted functional partitioning, implanted tea culture and cultural creation space, enhancing the humanistic focus of the space under the view of the screen barrier. The Jinghong Great Pagoda Temple, treasure of Hinayana Buddhism culture, is deconstructed via traditional handicrafts guided by the Taoist idea of the Unity of Heaven and Humanity. PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: The design of pristine vegetation, coconut branches, auspicious white elephants, and peacocks are all drawn from the humanistic imagery of the local. The curved tassel lamps, metal flower ornaments, round carpets, Dai pattern pillows, and single chairs with mortise and tenon construction blend together harmoniously. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: Project Area: 812 square meters TAGS: Kelly Lin, Xishuangbanna, Dai people, Local culture, Marketing center RESEARCH ABSTRACT: The base is located in the tourist resort town of Gashan, Xishuangbanna Dai Autonomous Prefecture, with folk culture and religious culture experience as the highlight, to create a world health resort that integrates business club, leisure and health community. The project is integrated with Dai folk customs, retaining the native environment and landscape of Xishuangbanna. It's aimed at creating a sanctuary in the rainforest, an ideal life residence away from the hustle and bustle of the city. CHALLENGE: In the original motion line, the compact home furnishings made the space congested. Thus, the designer chose to simplify the space by setting a visual focal point to optimize the layout of the space, enhancing the relationship between the central axis of the interior and exterior, and balancing the dynamic and static partition of the negotiation scene. Meanwhile, the outdoor enclosed area is adjusted and the outside view moved inward, boosting the flexibility of negotiation and relaxation.
