This rocking chair features 68 legs, making it both stylish and functional. However, before this design was created, extensive research was conducted to determine the most effective way to create a comfortable and stable rocking chair. Methods: To design the SEAt Urchin Rocking Chair, a variety of research methods were used. The design team utilized both qualitative and quantitative methods to gather data and insights from potential users. This included conducting surveys, focus groups, and one-on-one interviews to better understand what people wanted in a rocking chair. Tools: The research team utilized a variety of tools to gather data and insights. This included survey software, such as SurveyMonkey, as well as video and audio recording equipment to capture the feedback from focus groups and interviews. In addition, CAD software was used to create 3D models of the rocking chair, allowing the design team to test various design elements and ensure that the chair was both functional and aesthetically pleasing. Participants: The research study included participants from a variety of backgrounds and demographics. Participants ranged in age from 18 to 65 and included both men and women. One of the most difficult tasks was the precision drilling of 68 holes in 68 different directions, which required a high level of skill and attention to detail. Despite these challenges, the design team was committed to creating a chair that was both visually striking and ergonomically sound, resulting in a final product that perfectly balances form and function.
