| DESIGN NAME: Advar PRIMARY FUNCTION: Earphone INSPIRATION: In a world where everything is fast-paced, even the life span of the products that we use most in our day-to-day life, Meze Audio aims to create long-lasting products that become valuable possessions for those who chose them. Going against the trends, this product relies on straightforward technology and intricate design to create a memorable experience. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: With a silhouette inspired by organic shapes in nature, this earphone hides a powerful, detailed, lifelike sound behind a uniquely designed stainless steel chassis. A balance of form and function, Advar exudes an artisanal quality comparable to that of a jewelry piece. The main purpose of this earphone was to create a powerful, emotional impact for the end user through its jewel like design and its easy to enjoy sound. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: Each Advar unit comes with a detachable cable and a selection of ear tips sizes (from S to XL). The earpiece can easily be inserted into the ear, remaining secure during all sorts of activities. Thanks to its ergonomically contoured design paired with the over-ear cable hooks, the weight is evenly distributed to eliminate discomfort, even during long listening sessions. ADVAR is easy to drive and pairs well with any device, from phones to complex audio reproduction devices, thanks to its high sensitivity and low impedance. PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project started in 2018 in Baia Mare, Romania, and the first iterations were presented as prototype during that year. The final product was officially launched in April 2022. |
PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: Resembling the rounded surface of raw hematite, produced by metal injection molding with CNC finishing, the shell features a glossy black chrome plating on the main shell, blended with brass-colored accents on the cable connector, the nozzle, the depressed funnel surrounding the vent, and the Meze Audio logo. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: 20 x 20 x 18 mm (each earphone chassis measured without cable) TAGS: in-ear monitor, headphones, audio, CNC, aluminum RESEARCH ABSTRACT: When developing Advar, the goal was to create an artful, spiritual, and timeless piece of audio art, unlike anything else in the high end audio industry. CHALLENGE: Advar had to offer a complete listening experience that goes beyond the faithful reproduction of sound. It had to bring joy and excitement to the listener through both visuals and sound. The challenge was to create a frame to match our vision for beautiful aesthetics, good craftsmanship and top notch comfort, but remain lightweight, durable and easy to use.
