| DESIGN NAME: Peacebird PRIMARY FUNCTION: Outdoor Techwear System INSPIRATION: Considering outdoor activities during polar exploration, this down jacket is designed to provide users with a fashionable, flexible and warm wearing experience. Based on that, the product innovates the structure of three layers, by which users can freely select combination schemes as needed to ensure comfort and heat retention. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: This is a modular down jacket with three layers designed for the outdoor environment in polar regions. Thanks to the special materials, the product features waterproof and windproof properties to realize comfortable warmth even at extremely low temperatures. The two linings can be easily removed for better adaptation to different surrounding temperatures. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: The modular down jacket allows users to change combination schemes according to surrounding temperatures. Its three layers are connected by zippers, so that users can wear two layers indoors or in early winter, and wear three layers in outdoor environment of polar regions to prevent cold air invasion, leading to good wearing comfort. The same reflective membrane for marine rescue as well as RECCO positioning search and rescue system offers assistance with search and rescue. PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The product has been designed since October, 2019 in Ningbo. The field tests were operated from August 15th, 2021 to August 30th, 2021 in Mountain Zhongshan, Sichuan, and from September 28th, 2021 to October 18th, 2021 in Keketuohai International Ski Park, Xinjiang. PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: Three functional layers includes the windproof, waterproof windshell, the heat retention layer of down or fleece lining and the base layer close to the skin. The windshell is mainly made of Gore TEX fabric for water proof, wind proof and breathability, while shoulders, elbows, lower hem, etc. prone to wear use Cordura fabric resistant to wear and reflective fibers. The inner layers are filled with innovative functional fabric aerogel to effectively insulate heat and avoid body heat loss. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: - TAGS: - RESEARCH ABSTRACT: To assist in polar activities and ensure wearing warmth and comfort even in the coldest environment, the design team has drawn on the experience of polar scientific researchers, polar guides and explorers and outdoor enthusiasts to optimize the design for superior practicality. This product has come through field tests in polar regions. CHALLENGE: Field tests shows that thick and heavy coats usually cause inconvenient movement indoors. To address that, this product innovates the layered system, so that users can easily separate it into multiple layers for free combinations to well adapt to diverse scenarios or outdoor activities.
