DESIGN NAME: Le Rendezvous
PRIMARY FUNCTION: Residential Apartment
INSPIRATION: The living silhouette of this apartment, conceptualized from the Chinese Sanheyuan architecture, where the rooms are intertwined with a winding passage. By taking turns from the entrance, the living space, to the dining room, each area is clearly compartmentalized and sustains privacy. Life scenes shuttle between doorways and passages paved with diverse textures, forming a tranquil way of living.
UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The layout is clearly planned out between framing and layering, reality and virtuality. Imbued with oriental and eclectic expressions, this 188-square-meter layout clearly demarcates the served spaces suffused with lusters from natural stones, and the service spaces imbued with wood-felt serenity. Via reflections from mirror and crystals on the chandelier, darks and lights are intertwined, deftly creating both artful and emotional appeals.
OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: Borrowing intrinsic textures of marble and complying with the sufficient daylighting, this residential project presents a literati ambiance with agile movement, to cater for both resident’s hospitality and tasteful lifestyle, comprising 3 bedrooms ensuite, an air-filled living space, and a dim yet alluring dining area. Arrange walls into a clear alignment, which bedroom doors are included, and storage cabinets are hidden from fractional slots.
PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: Complete in January 2021, located in Kaohsiung city, Taiwan
FITS BEST INTO CATEGORY: Interior Space and Exhibition Design

PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: In deep flooring backdrops with few touches of emerald colors, the black-and-white trapezoid marble flooring at the entrance set off the living area. While a shaft of sunlight shines through sheer drapes, massive white marble walls, delineated by golden inlays, forge a magnificent elegance.
SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: Construction area 188 square meter.

RESEARCH ABSTRACT: Inheriting the concept of Sanheyuan, other cultural implication can be found in detail. For example, according to Asian aesthetics, red and green bring good fortunes, in which both colors can be seen from the huge wall collage.
CHALLENGE: Based on Chinese tradition, there is usually a table placed with ancestor tablets in the living area, which often becomes an eyesore. Compartmentalized in a secret cubicle and positioned toward a light-filled facet, the ancestor hall is structured with wall fabric, wood veneering, and slate materials, where it is not only for worshiping ancestors but also a meditation space.
