| DESIGN NAME: The Black Brick PRIMARY FUNCTION: Intelligent Doorbell Camera INSPIRATION: The original intention is to lower the threshold for the production and consumption of intelligent products. We inspected the doorbell products on the market and found that this product still has a lot of room for improvement, which can make the production cost lower and the operation more convenient. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: This intelligent doorbell is designed for homes that can effectively identify the identity of visitors, and be controlled through the App. This intelligent doorbell uses a very compact hardware design, and all possible components have been streamlined. It cut down a lot of unnecessary exposed parts and hardware configurations beyond actual requirements. It is smaller, has lower cost, and has lower energy consumption. This doorbell maintains a minimalist style from the inside to the outside, providing a more environmentally friendly and easy-to-use solution. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: The doorbell uses a large button that can be pressed to turn on the camera and chime. Instead of capturing video, the camera captures photos and GIF of visitors and displays them on the phone. PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: The casing only consists of two parts, which greatly reduced the cost and difficulty of production; it is more family-friendly that lower power cameras and infrared light are used; the button is integrated with an infrared lens. The light sensor and the indicator light share one light guide, further reducing trivial parts; the front shell is made of a single piece of infrared penetrating material, leaving only the buttons, indicator light and camera exposed; three AA batteries are removable and provide six months of standby time. For the doorbell project, our answers are lower cost, lower energy consumption, and more concise. We have researched more than a dozen intelligent doorbells and asked questions about the experience. In the end, we refined the core functions of the product, and simplified and deleted other unnecessary functions. We collaborated with hardware engineers and structural designers to redesign the hardware of the product, it naturally forms a convenient operation and simple style. CHALLENGE: The most difficult part of the project was how to match the new internal hardware to the exterior. In this process, the designer takes a part of the engineer's role, making suggestions for the combination of functional hardware, and thus developing the appearance design.
