DESIGN NAME: Music Island Stories
PRIMARY FUNCTION: Permanent Exhibition
INSPIRATION: Pop music from Taiwan took the Chinese-speaking world by storm. It has influenced the lives of more than a billion people. To reflect the spirit of Taiwanese pop music, the team spent more than 1,000 days through 269 channels to collect 111 songs and then compiled 1,326 exhibits for sorting out the century-old history of pop music. It hopes that through the exhibition, Taiwan's cultural development will be promoted, and more people will be involved in Taiwan's cultural industry.
UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: MUSIC, ISLAND, STORIES: POP MUSIC IN TAIWAN, the first exhibition documenting the popularity of Mandarin pop music in Taiwan. The exhibition tells the stories with “time scenes” and “story themes” in 12 exhibition sections. To bring the audience an immersive experience, it used automated audio guide equipment, RFID tags technology, a five-sided projection, and AR devices. When moving in the space, the audio guide by 14 artists and 111 music will automatically play through wireless induction. Additionally, with the RFID tags, the audience can obtain information on exhibits and check the details afterwards.
OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: To bring the audience an immersive experience as a concert. The audience can wear the headset with the audio guide, and then the music can be automatically pushed and broadcasted when moving in space.
Besides, the audience can obtain the information through the smart bracelet or search for the information on digital collections collected in the exhibition on the official website after going home.
PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The exhibition exhibits at Taipei Music Center - Cultural Cube, started from September 18th 2021 to September 20th 2026.

PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: The exhibition utilized automated audio guide equipment, RFID tags technology, a five-sided projection, and AR devices. With the audio guide of the headset, the music can be automatically pushed and broadcasted by wireless induction when moving in space. Additionally, the audience can obtain information with the technology and log in to the official website to search for information about digital collections afterwards.
