| DESIGN NAME: Hug PRIMARY FUNCTION: Wedding Rings INSPIRATION: As seen many similar designs in the wedding ring market. Will there be a whole new way to design a wedding ring? Start from this question, designer come to the basics, what can hold a diamond, as less as possible and what is the basics of marriage? start point from this , designer think of marriage is not to find a perfect person, but become a perfect couple, forgiveness is necessary , and such. So the idea of Hug come to mind, with only one piece of material, hugging the stone, and under it, it is a open ring needed another ring to complete its perfect. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: the unique look of this ring gives a full vision of the diamond, completely transparent on the side view. and its minimalist look comes from the simplified structure itself, without a normal setting to hold the stone, without any claws to catch the stone too. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: As a wedding ring, it comes with one with bigger diamond for the lady and smaller one for man. It can be wore separately or all-in-one. the space of the lady ring is the same size for the man's ring to filled in. But to pay attention, both size must be similar to be able to wear on the same person. PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: the project started in January 2022 in ShenZhen and finished in April 2022. |
PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: his design is completely handmade. From the design started by hand-drawing, and can only be done by very skilled goldsmith and stone-setter, the technology of holding the stone remains as a secret from the designer also a very skilled stone-setter himself. It uses material such as: white gold, platinum, titanium, pink gold, yellow gold and diamonds, also can use lab-grown diamonds. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: Width 20.6mm x Depth 25.8mm Heigh x 9.9mm TAGS: ring, wedding ring, diamond ring, creative ring, engagement ring RESEARCH ABSTRACT: We did a research from the internet about other brands wedding rings, mostly the top companies of the business, and we used mostly search engines such as Google and Pinterest etc. We collected these images and found out most rings are technically similar as well as the looks. CHALLENGE: The hardest part of the ring was design at what percentage of holding the stone is perfect. To achieve this part, we had to do multiple experiments , trying setting the stone in different angle, leaving the material as less as possible but also maintain the stone from fallen.
