| DESIGN NAME: Ztwlab PRIMARY FUNCTION: Beauty Centre INSPIRATION: A fantacy and timeless wonderland with a spatial experience. The inspiration is derived from the architectural aesthetics of the well-known Spanish building, La Muralla Roja - its romantic pink color and "maze visual effects". UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Different indoor spaces are connected to generate a sense of endlessness. The curves and round shapes along with the cherry blossom pink color not only create the illusion of space, giving visitors the feeling of being in a romantic and vibrant wonderland, but also outline the curves of female, the potential visitors of the beauty center. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: The open-plan reception and waiting area allow better interaction between visitors and staff members. This area is separated from the remaining area in the centre by doors, with the intention to eliminate noise travelling from the waiting area to facial rooms. A circular traffic flow is incorporated around the 8 facial rooms, with such circulation, visitors are able to find the designed rooms in a second. PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: Lobby's main background wall, ceiling, floor and the reception desk together form a static hourglass, echoing the goal of creating a timeless space. Inside the round ceiling, it is covered by water ripple metal sheet, the floor right underneath is shaped in a round circle by pink marble tiles. When visitors facing the ceiling, they can see themselves inside a pink fantacy wonderland. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: Design area: 112 square meters. Original Ceiling Height: 3 meters. The beauty centre has: 1 Reception Counter for 2 people, 2 Waiting Area to accommodate up to 15 people at the same time, Display Area, 1 Cosmetic Area for 2 people, 8 Facial Rooms, 1 Doctor Consultation Room with an operation area and 1 Pantry for staff members. TAGS: Commercial, Beauty Salon, La Muralla Roja, Maze Visual Effects, Illusion of Space RESEARCH ABSTRACT: Most of the beauty center in the market has clinic like design, white in color. Our goal was to create a different experience for visitors. Applying the architectural feature and the pink color of La Muralla Roja, we are able to create a fantacy and timeless wonderland with a spatial experience. CHALLENGE: There are four 900mm-diameter columns on site, and there is one located in the waiting area. With this column, we wrapped it with wood panels and build a symmetric curved-shape walls around the area, this way, the original column become one of design elements of the project but no longer an obstacle. Another challenges we have overcome is fulfilling client's requirements of having 15 different zones and rooms in this 112 square-meter site area. The final floor plan we have come up with, optimises the functionality of the space, has a clean traffic flow, and allow staff members to work efficiently. It provides high-end and innovative design techniques with unique styles for each project. Large-scale project management of the requirement and quality. Hong Kong lifestyle is fast-paced, stressful and overwhelming. And expensive housing is one of the factors that underpin it. In the light of it, our design philosophy has always been revolving around the aim of improving Hongkongers’ quality of life by bringing visually futuristic touches and a sense of happiness into their own interior spaces. Regardless of the size of the given home unit or commercial unit, our designs strive not only to make the most of every inch of interior spaces, but also to effect unique, sensory and physical experiences that can envision different owners’ personalities. Our design strategy does not confine itself to space planning, lighting, and texture in different materials. When it comes to units with spectacular views, merging the exterior view and the interior space together can further evoke positive, lively feelings. We have faith in the sustainability of design approach because it caters for all housing and building ranges. The essence of interior design to me is not just about aesthetically narrating how people live in one place or make use of the place, but also facilitating the way they live in it, and by extension, to make them happier. Our philosophy is to create some well being and futuristic life styles .Aims to bring happiness and amazing feelings of our life. |
