DESIGN NAME: Co Art
PRIMARY FUNCTION: AI Interactive Place
INSPIRATION: With the pressure of a fast pace, people engaged in creative design work face the problem of imagination depletion. Co Art will convert words into imaginative artwork, and inspire humans to further explore the boundary of artistic imagination.
UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Co Art is an all-new physical space for humans to co-create art with artificial intelligence. The magic Light is an interactive device enabled by neural network algorithms, and capable of connecting humans to the digital world. When a ring of light appears around the device, put a hand through it, and speak. The device will listen to, and understand you, and turn what you have just said into a piece of imaginative artwork. This is a brand-new, interactive way to create art, providing visitors with an opportunity to swap roles with artists, and deliver unusual experiences at exhibitions.
OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: Through its halo, people will be guided to place their hands into the interactive blue area, and it also encouraged them to have a dialogue with the A.I. imagination engine to create artwork together.
PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: Co Art participated in Beijing International Design Week in September 2021 and got good interactive feedback from the audience. I

PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: For the implementation of algorithms ,there are two passes in this process. We push a latent through the generative model to produce an image. Then pass the image to CLIP’s image embedder to measure the images’ similarity with the text prompt. Then we backpropagate through CLIP and the generative model, all the way back to the latent vector, and then use gradient ascent to update the latent, bringing the image slightly closer to matching with the text prompt. Repeat forward and backward passes until convergence.
For the hardware part,Take use of Arduino mega 32 to connect the sensor and control pannel.

It is suitable for people stand-using, with graceful and streamlined design language, which will convey a sense of technology and affinity.

RESEARCH ABSTRACT: AI design is one of the most popular technology in today's design trends. We hope to find new interaction way to encouraged user to have a dialogue with the A.I. imagination engine to create artwork together.
CHALLENGE: The most challenge for the project is to realize the new way of interaction. We need to learn lots of knowledge about how to build the input and output modules for the device. We tested many times for the interaction to make sure the steady running. Finally it woks well in the exhibition.
