DESIGN NAME: Prt

INSPIRATION: The 'accidentally Wes Anderson' vibe is all over the city and instantly inspiring. Porto's traditional buildings are perfect to create a surreal, pastel dreamworld with clouds.
UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: This series features the very traditional and unique buildings of Porto, Portugal. It is one of the oldest European centres and its most famous for port wine (named after the city).
The little houses are interpreted with a pastel dreamworld of dust and dawns. Golden gutters and clouds are supporting the surreal but peaceful vibes.
OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: The images could be used for an exhibition in a gallery.
PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The photos were taken during a long weekend end January 2022 and finished editing in the beginning of March 2022. So far they are living only in digital spaces on several creative platforms.

RESEARCH ABSTRACT: Porto is one of the oldest European centres, located along the Douro River estuary in northern Portugal and its most famous for port wine (named after the city). The magnificent bridges, the medieval quarter of Ribeira with its narrow, cobbled streets, shops and cafes and characterised buildings with ornate baroque interior and rich, gilded carvings make the city very unique.
CHALLENGE: Even tho it seems all buildings are unique and existing once on a fist glance, it is not the case. Many of them use the same (ish) tiles or the same build style. The second challenge were the very narrow streets that made it difficult to stand away enough from the building to photograph it. Lastly removing people, signs or other distracting elements in the retouch was very time consuming.
