| DESIGN NAME: Yoga House PRIMARY FUNCTION: Sustainable Building INSPIRATION: Earthship is a passive solar earth shelter that is made of both natural and upcycled materials. Earthship is predicated upon the idea that. There are six human needs that can be addressed through environmentally sustainable building design. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Earthship structures are intended to be off-the-grid ready homes, with minimal reliance on public utilities and fossil fuels. The building is constructed to use available natural resources, especially energy from the sun and rainwater. They are designed with thermal mass construction and natural gross ventilation to regulate indoor temperature, and the designs are intentionally uncomplicated and mainly single story. Special attention is paid to landscape and visual analysis and the ability to adjust the angle of placement of the building to open the most favorable view prospects. Use of prefabricated universal wooden trusses as load-bearing Structures, preservation of all existing trees due to the variable orientation of the structure and the perforated deck. Garbage management, reuse, and recycling built into construction and daily living. Shelter, building with natural and recycled materials. Clean water, water harvesting, and long term storage Food, in-home organic food production capability.
