| DESIGN NAME: Carefree PRIMARY FUNCTION: Restaurant INSPIRATION: Master Lin Yutang once explained the beauty of architecture as follows: "We are indulged ourselves in it, but we have no idea where nature ends and art begins." Nature and artificiality does not mean disorder or deliberately. In this connection, natural custom should be built into the overall planning of advanced design. Drawing inspiration from seasonal scenery, the YDS Design Office endows it into Carefree, allowing guests enjoy themselves and feel the power of nature. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: This is a high-end restaurant specializing in traditional Sichuan cuisine, located at No.177 Tianfu Avenue, Guixi Street, Wuhou District, Chengdu, Sichuan. Different from traditional restaurants' pursuit of swarmingwithvisitors OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: The sculpture in the center of the moon gate is the finishing touch of the whole space. The designer uses deconstruction techniques to combine the radical strokes of the word "Tianqu" with the ink painting to build a brand logo with both style and beauty. As the brand texts and ink interwoven into the restaurant, the classic style of the whole space is also revealed. PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project started in August 2020 in Chengdu and finished in May 2021 in Chengdu. FITS BEST INTO CATEGORY: Interior Space and Exhibition Design |
PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: The main materials in this project are gold brick, marble, copper like stainless steel, glass brick, art coating, wire glass, wood burning, tile, zigzag red brick and bamboo device. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: The project covers a total of 1480 square meters. TAGS: Interior, Commercial, Restaurant, Modern, Art, Oriental Elements, Natural, Elegant RESEARCH ABSTRACT: When entering the art corridor people will find a picture of sparse bamboo and moonlight shadow. The designer takes bamboo as raw material, and makes the hanging decoration of bright red geometry with artistic atmosphere. The modelling reflection of extremely rich visual tension is on the mirror surface wall, so that the light has the poetic charm. CHALLENGE: The designer installed a 360 degrees LED screen on the wall where the vegetation can show the change of the four seasons over time, from lush green to fully dyed autumn color, echoing with the business philosophy of Natural Appeal Restaurant that taking seasonal materials to cook seasonal health food, and using artificial objects to vividly express the ancient wisdom of getting along with nature. NAME: Yao Xiaobing Space Design Studio PROFILE: Yao Xiaobing Space Design Studio was founded by Mr. Yao Xiaobing in 2009. He advocates the concept of original and pure design, mainly focusing on boutique design projects. Professional design is a necessity of this era, it is not a luxurious thing. Defining it as "a more humane, environmentally friendly, relaxed and pleasant lifestyle" will be more incisive and precise. Yao Xiaobing Design Studio believes that the essence of design is to conceive a quiet space, but also to have warmth and the feeling of reality. Remove non-functional decorative elements, simplify colors, lighting, and raw materials to reach the realm of less is more. Yao Xiaobing Design Studio made a careful balance between the new and the old, it has revived the history through the orderly juxtaposition and separation of various fragments, properly displayed the original history, and created a new space. Light creates the mass of an object with brightness and shadow, and the production, expression, and change of material texture depend on resonance with the light. It is precisely because of the existence of light that the space's materiality and sense of form can be fully expressed and integrated into the space with the light. Yao Xiaobing Design Studio's understanding of light is not limited to direction, intensity, and color. It treats light as an entity. It is a way to balance expression from complexity. Vision is cutting from the lens constructed by Yao Xiaobing Design Studio, it is hoped that the viewer can generate flowing senses and feel on his own. In addition to the geometry and color of the object image, it enhances perception, accepts all cues from space and appreciates art spaces that are not regulated. |
