| DESIGN NAME: The Meaning of Happiness PRIMARY FUNCTION: Residential House INSPIRATION: Our design expands the space through an open plan that rearranges the layout and breaks free from the original small-three-bedroom framework. We demonstrate for the apartment units, with few changes and creative use of curves, the cramped feel of the original layout is resolved. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Featuring an “art-filled home,” the designer create the artistic main walls at different end views. The pale turquoise rattan cabinets break free of the usual earth-tone palette, while the stone tiles with waterfall-like patterns bring out a sense of dynamic, rendering a flowing groove. The stone tiles, rattan doors, and wood introduce natural energy, while metal materials dot about the space to add exquisite details, creating an elegant high-end residential look. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: Breaking the limitation of the long narrow layout, we reverse the living and dining room and rearrange the direction of the living room, thus enlarging the kitchen and living room space. The large vertical surfaces integrate functions and conceal doors, extending the space depth. PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project had finished in 2021. PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: The entryway storage room has multi functions like screening, storing and guiding the moving line. The band of lighting helps define the main moving line, while the nonparallel U-shaped design creates a gradually widening, brightening curved path with an enlarged sense of space. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: Dimensions: 100 square meter TAGS: laminate flooring, Italian paint, sheet brick, grille, titanium plating RESEARCH ABSTRACT: Fully communicating with this house resident, so that we can reach their real need. Design should be more humanize for people life. CHALLENGE: The original layout separates areas and the various sized doors and windows fragment the space. By reversing the living and dining room and rearranging the furniture, we maximize the usable space and open up visual connections as the open-plan layout lends an unblocked view.
