Collagen Supplement Packaging
INSPIRATION:
Beauty, consciously considered. Depot was commissioned to create a visual identity system and packaging design, including a bespoke vessel for this luxury atelier. Simplicity, sustainability and social responsibility sit as key strategic pillars and therefore drove all packaging decisions. Depot worked with industrial designers to create a bespoke form that fulfilled the brief of luxurious and sustainable. The bespoke vessel and subsequent packaging give the product value and cachet.
UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION:
Material selection was used to influence the consumer's perception from the initial impression to a later considered appraisal. The vessel combines glass and wood. Luxury is secured through an elegant, blended conical form with flowing surfaces influencing desirability and relevance. Sustainability is achieved through material usage and reuse of the vessel—employing a refill system. Its' packaging with a colour palette of dark green and light pastel hues, using high quality materials, structures and subtle print finishes created a tangible sense of both luxury and prestige.

The vessel is packaged in a rigid, lidded box. It is shipped in a coreflute shipper.

PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY:
Where possible all materials were selected based on their environmental credentials, ranging from the use of post-consumer waste, FSC papers and soy-based inks.
A range of bamboo pulp boxes was used for travel sachets, to provide both protection, be light weight aw well as home-compostable.

The packaging consisted of a primary rigid box / core flute shipper / wrapping paper / stickers / large satchels / postcards / pouches / sachets and pulp boxes and sleeves.

RESEARCH ABSTRACT:
The luxury category, particularly within the beauty segment has been subject to criticism for its excessive use of packaging, plastic and general packaging waste. By Beth has sustainability at its core, therefore all materials were selected based on their environmental credentials. Materials were printed using soy-based inks, where possible recycled content, pulp and FSC paper. We were able to create a prestigious perception but not to the detriment of sustainability. The dark, green selected for its representation of the natural Australian flora and fauna.
CHALLENGE:
From the initial briefing to the mass production of the vessel, we had a 6 month window only. This gave very little time for full prototyping and testing as we would normal have.
