| DESIGN NAME: Urban Elysees PRIMARY FUNCTION: Residential House INSPIRATION: This project is located in Daan district, Taipei city. The owners are a couple and a son, since the pandemic, they have more time together during stay-at-home. Because the father and the son have a common interest in wine collecting, they want to make it act focal point in home to increase the value of space and to improve quality of life. Different from common types of home wine cabinet, we turn ordinary cabinet into a home showcase, which makes wines look like elegant artworks. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: By using a large amount of gray color, comfort and spaciousness are added to home. The walls are built with wire brushed wood, which enriches the look of home with its rich texture, besides, it maintains consistency and unity in style. In public areas, the gray and white marble flooring visually enlarges space and creates modern ambience. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: The 2,064 square feet space includes three rooms, two bathrooms, and a balcony. In public areas, the wine cabinets allow the owners to store and display their collection as they wish, and the kitchen island can be used as mini bar, where the owners can enjoy wine and talk freely. Above dining table, the custom chandelier with unique shape symbolizes One Family One Heart. In private areas, the owners can attentively study and work in study room, and the glass wall minimizes the distinction between areas. The spacious guest bathroom provides users with comfortable experience. In master bedroom, there is a private bathroom where two basins are installed to maximize convenience for users. Besides, since this house is on the 15th floor, we turn the balcony into a rest area, where the owners can look the street scenes and feel energetic. PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: For materials, we utilized marbles to add spaciousness, brightness, and luxury to spaces; wire brushed wood, which enriches the look of home, and creates elegance and serenity; iron accent pieces, which creates modern and calm ambience; special paints, which add art effects to spaces, and it is a type of natural and safe healthy paints with eco-friendly and nontoxic features. Besides, we used mosaic tiles with stainless steel surface, which has high anti-slip performance and gives unique look to spaces. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: By accurately measuring the different wine bottle sizes to calculate the average, which allows us to increase cabinet size that can store more wine bottles. Moreover, with well-designed electrical power distribution system, we build a level-up wine cooler which offers even temperature distribution, and it is suitable for different types of wines, such as red wine, whiskey, sorghum wine. TAGS: Modern, Luxury, Red wine, Home, Interior RESEARCH ABSTRACT: Since this home is located in a prosperous area, we tried to get to know more about the surroundings and hoped to perfectly integrate the home with the surrounding. Finally, we created an elegant, luxury, and modern interior design to symbolize the abundance and advanced features of the city. CHALLENGE: How to design home wine cabinet was exactly a challenge. To create special spaces to store wines, a lot of time was spent to discuss with wine cabinet manufacturer and to understand the features of different types of wines. Besides, after discussing with the owners, we knew more about the owners’ needs, so we increased cabinet size to add more space, which allows the owners to display their collection.
