| DESIGN NAME: Intelligent PRIMARY FUNCTION: Input App INSPIRATION: Communication and expression constitute the most common way of human exchange. Four populations (the elderly, deaf-mute, people with expression disorder and people demanding touchless input and communication during the pandemic) cannot engage in efficient communication. This design aims to solve their difficulties in input and communication depending on AI, bring them more confidence and warmth, and enable smooth communication and equality for all. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Integrating multiple AI technologies, this intelligent input method can be applied in multiple intelligent terminals. By switching among the multiple modes targeting different populations, it meets the input demands of different target user groups, provides more intelligent assistance and services, and brings users smoother communication experience. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: This design identifies users’ demands through face recognition, provides corresponding modes, assists in users’ efficient and accurate expression, and makes people’s communication easier. For example, it identifies the elderly through AI face recognition, offers the elderly mode, and helps the elderly input rare words in handwriting with the voice assistant; or enables handwriting in the air through gesture recognition, and guarantees users’ safety as users can input without touching the screen. PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: Initiated in November 2019, with handwriting in the air released in May 2020, the intelligent input for the elderly launched in April 2021, and other functions expected to come out in succession. PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: This app is universally applicable to Android, iOS, MacOS and Windows. Consistent experience is provided for different terminals relying on multiple AI technologies. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: Universally applicable to all models including Android, iOS, MacOS and Windows and all sizes. TAGS: Intelligent input, artificial intelligence (AI), user experience (UX), user interface design, expression assistance, elderly input, touchless input RESEARCH ABSTRACT: This scheme is designed according to the current situation and trend of vulnerable groups in China and authoritative data research conclusions. We have discovered the common demands of vulnerable groups in software input. In addition, we have conducted user questionnaire and interview for each user group, to further understand and demonstrate their input characteristics and provide more suitable solutions. CHALLENGE: As our design targets special populations, we should consider their difficulties in input by putting ourselves in their position, including practical operation problems and psychological barriers. Therefore, we have our solution proved by more target users, thus to truly solve their input barrier and bring them more confidence and warmth.
