| DESIGN NAME: Arasta PRIMARY FUNCTION: Multifunctional Bench INSPIRATION: It is inspired from ability to move, folding and make them ready for reuse when necessary in built-in furniture existing in Turkish traditional architectural culture. The product is designed to allow different uses during the day to accompany the transformation and movement of life. It is aimed to provide the ease of use of the lifestyle that takes off the shoes that used outside at the entrance of the house. It is the assistant of the host in the entrance of the house for the lifestyle that values hospitality. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: It is a multi-purpose bench design. It draws its strength from its different proportions and multi-functionality. It creates a solution for the different needs during the entrance and exit of the place. The entire revolving tray mechanism is solved in the very thin leg of the product. Despite this, the product, which can be packaged in disassembled form, is designed so that only one person can assemble it. Thanks to the layered use of different materials, seating comfort is provided. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: The multi-purpose product was designed with the lifestyle of today’s people. It provides an extra storage solution with the wooden tray located under the product and saves the usage volume by closing the revolving tray part. In addition, the upholstery which is producted the layered use of different materials with the dimensions suitable for the ergonomics provides comfort. PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: All of the technical details that complete the design and function of the product have been solved by using specially manufactured turning parts. Turning parts that create 8 different technical solutions were solved in 16 mm diameter tube feet without affecting the design. To turn the revolving tray from both the arm and the tray, turning similar to the hinge system are designed. To fix the back upholstery, which is produced as disassembled, a turning and a set screw are used. A special polishing process and a special paint was improved to gained glossy efect on the bright gold metal parts. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: It is 1200 mm x 480 mm / 850 mm x 920 mm Seat height is 450 mm x 1200 mm Package size is 1220 mm x 500 mm x 32 mm When the revolving tray of the product is fully closed, the product depth is 480 mm, and when it is fully opened, it reaches 850 mm. Since the product is produced disassembled, it can fit in a very small package according to the size of the product. TAGS: bench, multifunctional bench, bench with tray, entrance design RESEARCH ABSTRACT: - CHALLENGE: The product is intended to be designed as disassembled. In this case, it was a design challenge how to produce two arms which are the same appearance, one of them has a back upholstery and the other one has revolving tray.
