RESEARCH ABSTRACT: The research in this project was conducted to find out a way to combine the two different types of hospitality spaces in just one without altering one another, and to anchor the space within its context and surrounding. How can we integrate a luxury cafe and a sports bar in a unique space that serves both purposes. The materiality was also big part of the project research as it had a consequent impact on the general atmosphere.
CHALLENGE: Since the design takes place on the fourth floor of an already existing facility, it would have been expansive to remodel the layout of the previous tenant, especially concerning the fire sprinklers. Therefore, the design had to exploit the same space configuration to deliver an otherwise already complicated combination of a luxury cafe and a sports bar. Placing the monitors necessary to modern sports bar was also a difficult task as it had a heavy impact on the cafe image.
