| DESIGN NAME: Space PRIMARY FUNCTION: Armchair INSPIRATION: Immersed in what is glimpsed as a new space age very close and within everyone's reach, this luxurious resting or reading chair celebrates the optimism, in a time of so many tragedies, that the new reaches of aerospace technology endow humanity with of new resources that will improve the standard of living for all. Inspire creativity and optimism in this next era that is about to begin when several private companies have already begun to explore beyond the earth, bringing hope of great achievements for man kind. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The design was carefully studied to be comfortable and ergonomic as well as resistant and with high-tech and luxury materials. It brings a futuristic vision while generating a presence of the highest visual value. Ideal to be an eye-catcher in any modern interior design space. Thanks to its design and materials, it has the ability to slightly adapt its shape as required by the user's body, facilitating a relaxed and comfortable posture, while providing an image of power and strength. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: Its streamlined, lightweight silhouette is made from aerospace-grade materials, like its hand-finished solid cast aluminum frame assembled with carbon-grade steel bolts and flexible bearing damping sliders made from NiTinol, a flexible new-age alloy. space, which gives the feeling that the chair floats to better adapt to the weight of the user. PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The design project began in August 2021 and was developed from then until January 2022. The investigation of the materials and the structure studies took more than 3 months. The project is in the prototype phase for laboratory tests and for production on request. PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: The solid aluminum structure is made from the direct casting of aluminum on a compacted ultra-fine silica sand mold, to be processed by hand for polishing that gives it the final finish. The work is intended to be handmade to give a unique and human touch to each chair, which will be in a certain way a unique and irreproducible piece exactly the same given this manual ending. The structure is reinforced with grade stainless steel screws, while the bands that make up the seat and backrest are made with several layers of superimposed carbon fiber by means of thermomolding, all of these in turn lined with high-density memory foam rubber lined with fine natural leather made with special thread with metallic filaments and nylon. RESEARCH ABSTRACT: A new collection was proposed that inspires optimism about the scope of the new space age that we are about to live. The investigation of new materials that provide great comfort and modernity while giving us resistance and the light appearance that we seek. Various scientific sources gave the guideline of the materials that we should use, as well as various studies of aerodynamics and the shape of space aircraft that contributed concept to the collection. After an extensive stage of sketches by hand to then digitize them to 3D, the use of a CNC router to obtain the shapes was necessary to obtain various prototypes for testing. After several tests the design is ready, in the stage of production of casting molds for manufacturing on request. CHALLENGE: To design an armchair that optimistically inspires the very near new space age, being a high-luxury and extremely comfortable armchair, made with modern materials of the new aerospace age.
