| DESIGN NAME: Celtic Legacy PRIMARY FUNCTION: Mens Watch INSPIRATION: The Celts truly hold a special place in history with their significant artistic symbols. Original Celtic knot designs can be dated back to the 3rd century. They are believed to have represented faith, declare unity between people and in some cases, to protect against evil spirits. Celtic knot famously comprise of one continuous line, with no beginning and no end. A pattern of infinity. All this has strong influence on design development for Celtic Legacy timepieces. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The Celtic Legacy watch collection represent the Celtic art style and its meaning. The goal of this project is to implement Celtic culture and history of their particular symbols which are well-known worldwide. The most important element which embodies of Celtic expression in this timepieces is Celtic knot which you can find in watch dial, crown and back case. The combination of a strong, sleek aesthetic and playful design gives these timepieces exceptional character. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: Men Automatic self winding automatic watches. The models include three hands which show you hour, minute and second of the watch mechanism. This model you can operate by pull out the crown on the second position and set the time and push in. With first position you can wind the watch. PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project started in June 2020 from scratch design in Cork, Ireland and first prototype was made in January 2021. After small changes and adjustment the final prototype was born in October 2021. |
PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: The Celtic Legacy watch design was born of course in Ireland on my working desk. The timepieces are manufactured in China and watch Movement Seiko NH72A are from Japan. There are several material used in final product: Stainless steel for Watch case and part of watch crown, few different types of colous in IP plating for dials, indices and watch hands. The top glass and part of watch crown are made from sapphire crystal and finally watch straps are produced in Italy from the fine calfskin leather. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: Metal Case 316 L Stainless Steel, Diameter 40 mm, Case Thickness 12 mm, Double Domed Sapphire Crystal Glass for Dial, Sapphire Crystal Watch Crown Combined with Stainless Steel, Handcrafted Calfskin Watch Strap, Movement: Seiko NH72A gun metal grey skeleton movement with Cotes de Geneve rotor, Self winding Automatic, 24 Jewels, Frequency 21 600, Running Time 41 Hours, Hour, Minutes and Second Rose Gold Watch Hands, Circular Brushed and IP Color Plated Multi Layered Dial, 3D Rose Gold Indices TAGS: Celtic legacy, watch, automatic watch, classy style watch RESEARCH ABSTRACT: The new designed smart watches is slowly making even the best watches and clocks obsolete, which is a crying shame. With this information from our research online we believe the classical wrist watch has still good position in present market. We decided to create classy dress watches with strong story behind and with inspiration of historical Celtic knot symbol for this project. This symbol took crucial position in watch dial. We believe the Celtic Legacy timepieces can compete with any high quality watches and their design can become one of the favorite for mechanical watch lovers. CHALLENGE: The main issue we had with the wholes on the side of the watch case lugs which they need to be cut on the side way proportionally 2 mm from the edge. The production team were worried the lugs will be too thin and they can be easily punched in just by pressing them. The second problem with this cuts was polishing the wholes. We decide that cuts need to be thicker, so the material can resist the pressure. For polishing inner wholes we just simply use the polishing pads of the cone shape. We believe that all issues during production time we solved very efficiently and in the best timeline as possible.
