DESIGN NAME: Simple Carrier
PRIMARY FUNCTION: Residential House
INSPIRATION: Inspired by caves, the space is featured with moderate colors to build a private place for a family in the midst of the hustle and bustle of the city. Under shimmering light, natural stone texture, warm smoked wood grain, and low-key yet luxurious metallic luster all emit vibes of sensibility that enhances the harmony and warmth of the scene.
UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The calm, cool gray tones exude a peaceful and serene texture. Tranquility permeates throughout the public domain. The curved windows provide abundant light and add warmth to the mellow carrier. In a recessed color palette, soft furnishings of highly saturated colors and amber light sources improve the visual temperature, bringing beauty into daily life in the balance of rationality and sensibility.
OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: The marble TV wall is framed by lateral symmetric wooden grilles to smooth out the uneven edges of the original structure. The middle section is tightly interlocked with charcoal gray marble pattern. Its rough crystalloids and veins unveil the magnificent atmosphere of the main wall.
The light rail porch connects the passage of the dining room, linking the smooth movement and clearly defining the fields.
The dining table is the centerpiece of the dining room, and the circular traffic flow gives ample space to walk around, while the dark brown wood and glossy metal create a stable dining atmosphere. On the kitchen island with bar, the bursting veins on gray and white marble lend the primitive charm of the dark and secluded space. The display shelves are lined with black mirrors, setting the mood for tipsy moments in the flow of light.
Upon entering the bedroom, the rust-like bedside wall outlines its personality through the straight dividing line and matching gray mirror. The delicate chandelier emits a light and soothing atmosphere, leading the occupants into dreamland.
PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project is finished in January 2022 in New Taipei City, Taiwan.

RESEARCH ABSTRACT: Wooden grilles in the living room extend outward to define the scale of the TV wall. By moderately shading the window to adjust the over-exposed light and adjusting to the original curved structure to connect with the soft white gauze curtain, the tension balance in the scene is constructed.
CHALLENGE: The structural beam across the canopy of the living room is wrapped in a black mirror to weaken the presence of volume, while concealing a modern and sophisticated aesthetic vocabulary. Sliding doors made of transparent glass serve as the kitchen doors. The glass separates spaces without interrupting the atmosphere to release the sense of space and also serves as a bridge for an emotional transmission between the inside and the outside.
