DESIGN NAME: Neobio
PRIMARY FUNCTION: Family Park
INSPIRATION: The project is located in Futian District, Shenzhen. The 7m high teat symbol at the center of the front facade represents the growth of children, which is the core of the space. The arc-shaped entrance and the reversed arc above creates a strong visual effect of growing upwards, leading kids to a free "kingdom" in the city. A set of installations is arranged in the outdoor space, and the shapes mimic the growth, variation and division of cells and echo the building.
UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The city is a system of intertwined networks within a limited area, meticulously interlocking and overlapping and dispersed. As history advances and cities expand, the form of architecture is changing. Early architecture served religion, power and wealth, and elites. Today the form of architecture and the objects it serves are changing, more diversified, subdivided, with the gradually-blurring functional boundaries, and the constantly-changing subjects of application.
OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: The 7m high pacifier symbol centered on the front of the building alludes to the spatial core of the growth of juvenile form. The semi-circular arc of the entrance and the reverse semi-circular arc above form an upward growth trend in terms of visual dynamics,
The outdoor space is a set of installations. This set of cellular water droplets foreboding cellular reproduction, duplication and division of the vitality of life.

RESEARCH ABSTRACT: By looking for the position of the original architectural periphery beams and non-glass surfaces for firefighting ventilation where metal grilles can be opened, the design team found that there are structural supporting beams and columns inside the grilles. Based on these fulcrums, they created steel frames and attached them to the structures, thus ensuring good stability and effectively avoiding going beyond the architectural boundary.
CHALLENGE: The original building facade was formed by framed glass structure. It was hard to install one sheet of aluminum on the facade with a height of 15m and an area of 500sqm, for the lack of fulcrums to support the structure.
The building reveals an arc-shaped image, and its original boundary could not be broken, hence posing a big challenge to structural calculations and construction process.
