| DESIGN NAME: D M Residence PRIMARY FUNCTION: Residential Interior INSPIRATION: The main purpose of this design was to create a cozy yet elegant space for the daily life of the family. The highlits are the use of natural regional white marble, the solution of the cabinets (hidden behind the slatted panels) and the overall cleanliness of the architecture, which allows the apropriation of the space by the owners through the use of their personal belongings to give significance to each corner. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: This space integrates a living room, a dining room and a kitchen. For maximum storage and a clean visual style, all the cabinets were hidden inside slatted panels (every part of the slatted panels in this design actually open and can be used for storage). As a result of this decision, the kitchen, which is in fact the functional kitchen of the house, was free from excessive furniture, and could be designed as a stylish bar. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: This is an open concept architecture, focusing on making daily routines easy and comfortable while keeping things organized and stylish. PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project started in January 2018. The interiors were started in September 2018 and finished in December 2018. PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: The space was built from scratch, using light steel structures, as an expansion to an existing apartment. National brazilian brands and materials were preferred: the furniture, carpet, tiling, cabinets and marble. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: 110 square meters TAGS: loft, kitchen, residence, interior design, architecture, living room, dining room, house RESEARCH ABSTRACT: One of the challenges of this project was to build over a structure with limited points of support. This is why the space has no pillars, as all of them are located at the borders, where the original structure can be found. Every material had to be calculated not to overload the structure. Aside from that, the clients had an extensive memorabilia. To fully accomodate these personal belongings while still maintaining a clean visual style, it was mandatory to find a solution to maximize storage. That's why we conceived the slatted panels which are, in fact, cabinets that hide and organize all the objects, hardwares and materials. CHALLENGE: The main challenges: working with lightweight structure in a limited structural context; conceiving the details of the slatted cabinets so as they look entirely as a panel, from start to end and from floor to ceiling.
